Official COD4 X Repair Guide [For activision patch]

COD4 X (or 1.8 patch) is the userpatch that most people use to play call of duty 4, and this is a guide to fix inability of people to join multiplayer games after lastest patch by Activision,on 26 April 2018, who also happen to or do not have COD4 X installed

1- The Fix

Follow guide at cod4-x website:
Go to the forums(simply google search "cod 4 x forums")
Check in announcement section with thread title: "Steam CoD4 patch breaks game - Our official repair guide "
This guide is compiled by the DEVELOPORS of COD4 X themselves, so this is 100 % trusted.

2- Why was this patch pushed by activision?

The call of duty games had a severe vunerability which allowed bad people to take control over your entire pc and even format your pc etc. However, the vunerability that activision patched not an issue on cod4 specifically( it was on MW2 etc, all of them have got patches). So in cod4, the issue was not as severe.

3- Then should i use COD4 X or this?

You should use COD4 X, their are 2 reasons, number one is that this issue is very mild. Number two being that there is an even more serious vunerability in cod4 which activision has NOT PATCHED and has put all of players under risk of PC TAKEOVER. This is talked by the COD4 X dev in the same link, check it out.

COD4-X HAS ALREADY PATCHED BOTH OF THESE ISSUES many months ago, and thus made the steam patch not needed.

How do i find servers that run cod4 x in the server tab?? and thanks for posting this it really helped me out big time

When you have the patch installed, click join game while in the game. On the top you should see local/cod4-x/activision.
