Why are people spamming different ways to update from this issue that recently appeared downgrading COD4 to 1.6?

I didn't need to download anything from a 3rd party site when I first installed this game last year. This is clearly a Steam problem and for them to allow an update that would basically disable COD4 multiplayer since yesterday is totally unacceptable.

I too have had this happen. I tried to use the stand alone patch to get back to v 1.7 but of course it doesnt work with the steam version.

Yes I to have this issue. I have tried patches but it says i am using a digital version of Call of Duty 4 and patch wont work. I have never had this problem until just recently and I want it fixed STEAM PLEASE

Ninja, Activision has nothing to do with digital version from Steam. Its a Steam problem.

they just released a patch that updates COD4 to v1.8 but now i cant find any servers not even one pops up...

Just down;oad the exe and put in c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty 4 or where steam is located. Then it will work!!!
