COD 4X

Every time I join any server, it asks me if I want to download COD 4X, I select no, and then it boots me back the main menu. Are there any normal 1.8 vanilla servers that I can play, or are they all COD 4X? I dislike COD 4X because almost all the servers have bots or are hardcore only.

using steam's 1.8 version is pointless.

also, saying that cod4 x servers are "just bots or hardcore" is a pathetic excuse to not use it when you obviously don't know how well it benefits playing cod4 nowadays.

If you cant find servers to join, then your not looking hard enough, simple as.

What if people are constantly DDOSing us out of Cod4 X servers?

There is no reason not to install cod4 x. Not only is it backwards compatible, so you can play on regular servers too (except steam's 1.8 but no one really plays that) and cod4 x also protects you against bad servers which could potentially install virusses

1.6 was the last update version the the game devs put out. But it still had issues. 1.7 (cod 4x) was community made that fixed a lot of those issues. Steam then decided to do their 1.8 patch which basically did nothing. 1.7 just shows a lot more servers so yes some are bot servers. Just have to go thru and find legit servers. I play on a couple. Freeze tag mods.

not entirely true, there's a 1.7 patch made by infinity ward. the cod 4x user made patch is applied on TOP of 1.7. Then there is the new steam 1.8 patch nobody uses

yeah sorry was tired lol. yeah the 1.7 was there patch. for some reason i thought they patched it to 1.6. then the cod x i thought was a 1.7 patch. but as for what i said, the rest is true. the 1.7 was the last patch put out by the devs. then cod 4x was made on top which i believe updates to like 1.7??? or something. which still lets you play 1.7 servers. then for whatever reason steam updated to a 1.8.

i cant answer for sure if the cod 4x would work with the 1.8 server. whoever does it, may put out an update that would work or not worth it. if there are only 3 or so servers running 1.8, there are a lot more with 1.7 i would then rather go with the version that has a lot more.
