Trying to register my CoD4 with my old CD key

Hey guys,

I'm trying to register an old CD of CoD 4: MW which I bought a long time ago. I have the original case and the manual with the CD key. The CD key comes back as "not valid" when I try to register the game on Steam. However with other games (e.g. Dawn of War) I managed to register them onto Steam and now have them in my games library. Do you know if this is also possible with Call of Duty games? (I would like to do the same with my old copy of CoD 1).

Some keys must have a format that Steam allows, if your key is legit but Steam doesn't like it you won't be able to add it as a Steam game.

My key is legit, but it's the key for the CD version of the game (not Steam, I guess). However with other games, the developers gave me the Steam key so I could play without using the dated format that is CDs.

My question, I guess, is would Activision give me a Steam key if I asked, and proved to them that I own the physical version of the game (e.g. send pictures of my discs, cases, manuals, etc.)?

You can try but Call of Duty 4 MW is NOT a Steamworks game by default, the Steam integration happened with Modern Warfare 2 in 2009.

Im fairly sure Activition support will just point to the Remaster to buy that.
