MAC problems downloading http://188.165.57.239/cod4rd/mods/cod4i/~images_00.iwd

Hi there,

I have COD4 installed on a mac, and before I could play as normal, but now for some reason when I try 90% of servers it stays at "Donwloading http://188.165.57.239/cod4rd/mods/cod4i/~images_00.iwd" then timeouts...

Any ideas?

Its a spam server and broken. Do cl_allowdownload "0" in console. Enable it in Multiplayer settings

No, just go to the mods file and delete all mods

I have the same problem in my Mac. The last version of CoD4 servers (1.8) doesn't works in Mac. You have to find 1.7 servers but in the last year it seems that most have disappeared :(

That is because the 1.8 is a HUGE improvement and fixes so many issues. Since the Mac and Linux are such a miniscule and niche market, it makes sense to appeal to the masses and make the change. Little things like removing the DL cap and ability to add noclip to player models is huge. You never have to worry about a team player blocking a door as you can noew pass right thru them.

My advice would be to upgrade to a WinPC if you really want to continue to enjoy playing Windows based games.

Using a "WinPC" would be no Upgrade but a BIG Downgrade, both of OS Quality and of good Taste.

Same problem just whit Win.

Actually, you can play on a lot of servers on 1.7 version. To find the servers, you should visit gametracker.com, and search call of duty 4 servers using filter.
Search by: Server variable;
Server variable: shortversion;
Value: 1.7

There are actually 10-15 servers available to play with players.
