how to downgrade patch to 1.6

just wondering how i can downgrade my patch from a digital version of 1.7 to 1.6, as the servers i want to play on are all running the 1.6 patch, and i updated and cant play there anymore. i tried looking for a 1.6 patch to download but all the ones off google are for the disc version only, not the digital version. pls help!!

The only options I can think of. Either get the disk version and then you can patch up to 1.6. I believe you can have a few patches and play them all. Like 1.7 and 1.6. Disk default I believe is 1.4.


The other option would be to find a site that has the download for you and re download the game and use your key code.

yeah i just went ahead and bought the disc version on ebay for 10, but if anyone has a quicker fix lmk. the server that runs 1.6 is like the only populated promod server located in the us, and i need my daily play time there lol

Ah. Well it's all good. I know there are some who play older versions due to glitches that are no longer available with patches.

Surprised there site does not list ways to get 1.6 working then? Usually good clans that use older versions will have a links page, a forum explaining how to get it to work, etc.

Late comment is late, but I still wanted to share this. Not sure if it works for the Steam version, but since you've already ordered the disc, it shouldn't be a problem.
I used CoD4 Version Changer in the past (don't need it anymore). It allows to choose between all versions of COD4 you have previously installed.
You should be able to find Version Changer somewhere on the internet. I had no problems with it personally, but I still recommend you be careful like with any new program.

well there is not a patch for 1.8. it was a mod more so that some community members came out with. best bet would be to find a server that runs the 1.8 cod4 x mod and go to there website and ask there. if someone in the clan uses a mac and has it working they can share how.

you can usually just look up server info and it will show if a server is running the cod4 x mod and many will also state there website.
