Non-Hardcore Servers?

Are there any normal servers left which run the vanilla modern warfare? I love this game and would like to play a normal round of it again :)

i dont know any other then a freezetag mod that is not hardcore. but all i can say is click quick refresh (not the other refresh as it does not always refresh and show servers) and then find servers and just try them. dont like leave and try the next.

you can also add a lot to favorites and this way if you find one that is not hardcore and you like, you dont have to try and find it later and its already in favorites. and if you find one you try and dont like, delete it from favorites.

Hardcore is normal. Softcore is not normal. It is not normal to take that many bullets and keep on going. Just play more and youll get better and wont have to rely on softcore non-normal settings to play. Just takes practice.

It is not about me being bad. I just want to play Modern Warfare in a normal way, and softcore is how the developers wanted the game to be. I find it sad, that so many players are only playing Hardcore. But i guess i will have to deal with it :)

Um, the devs added hardcore into the game so soft core and hardcore is how they wanted it played. And for cod4, they gave the freedom to clans to run there own servers how they wanted.

Even there new cod titles have a hardcore mode to choose from.

So hardcore is a way the devs wanted the game played. And most rather play hardcore. So servers being ran by clans who pay out of there pocket are going to set up a server the way they feel will draw players.


Soft or hard both still require skill. Hard usually requires a much faster aim. Where soft requires to be more accurate.


I get we all have our preference. And as I said, not to many softcore these days. I think the only one I know about is a freezetag server.

cad80 consistently beats me to the punch, not sure how. But he is correct. Just because you do not like HC does not mean it is not normal. It is in fact far more *normal* than softcore. If you dont like it, I would suggest looking for another game to play then. Our server is a HC/SC mix, probably as close as you may get at this point, but probably stil not going to make you happy.

You have a HUD and killcam but your health is 40 HP. So you can get killed pretty quik. I scaled back the health of the heli too so it isnt OP for the setting of the server. A RPG hit or some bullets can quickly take it out. Seems to be a good mix because our server is fairly popular.

Lol. Well smart phone and on a lot. Also to add. If your wanting more health, can also use juggernaut. And even last stand. Or both.

I really understand your point. And most of the soft-core players already quit MW. But why should i give up? Modern Warfare is an excellent game. In contrast most CoDs today have tons of customization and massive killstreaks. I liked how uncomplicated CoD4 really was and find it sad that there are really no soft-core servers left. However you are right. Maybe i have to refund the game. I was wrong thinking that such an old game would be still played by casual people.

What I enjoy is that even those who are not great at shooting can do well. They can learn to be a great defroster. And I know a server running freezetag that is softcore.

For me, I just look for a server that has active admins. One reason I choose cod4 over any other game is because cheaters get banned in servers that has admins who care.

Ah you are that kind of a person who thinks that VAC Bans always mean that somebody hacked on a game :D Think what ever you want to, but i think one VAC ban that was imposed over one and a half years ago does not say anything. :)

No but they are given to those who cheat. And just saying. The servers I know don't just ban a good player. They gather proof. And usually have there fair share of good players.

I am that kind of person. I feel once a cheater, always a cheater. The fact you think it means so little speaks to your level of integrity, which now comes into question. If you were banned by an admin for cheating, then he probably felt there was enough cause to do so, and your VAC ban does not help your case.

On our servers I get FLOODED with noobs constantly yelling hacker. Drives me nuts. I go and spectate that person for some time. Record demos of their game play. Pull several screenshots from their game. And if I see evidence of hacking, yes you will get a perma ban.

I can assure you, if we were to meet on the streets and I break out an AR you will die from one or two bullets. Being able to take as many bullets as you do in softcore is much more unrealistic. If you are so noob that you need to play the kiddie version of the game, why not play on console? You will find softcore there. Also, you could always put up your own server and run it as you see fit.

I believe hardcore is the best option for playing CoD4. It's fun and fast paced. Even though I'm trash at this game, (only 15 kill/round on Broadcast with lots of people) and I dont have many hours on it, (7 at the moment) I enjoy hardcore over softcore, though it can get frusturating.
