They're re-making mighty 8th too.
Yes! Hope they bring back that Micropose touch that made all the old games great.
Wanted to say same thing here, legend is back? I wishlisted this game simply for this fact alone i hope their new games will be the best quality like it was before with Microprose. It is a legendary company.
Yes =) MicroProse has been a big help in our projects, and they offered to publish a few of our games during their return. We've been very lucky, and we can't wait to play more games coming from their official studios here soon.
I realize this is necroing an old thread, but i'm curious about some developer/publisher dynamics, as an early access title, with microprose publishing it:

>was this a prior agreement with microprose publishing through v1.0 release, regardless if the project was finished? (with OHD it's clear this project is most seemingly abandoned)
>considering that OHD likely has a more developed codebase, is there potential there to take on a publisher as well?
>is microprose's involvement in Ground Branch a factor in them publishing other FPS games in the (immediate) future? is this part of why Microprose isn't a publisher on OHD?

For the record, as an older gaming that came up in the 90s heyday of PC gaming, Microprose was THE developer/publisher of that era as far as I'm concerned, and it warms my heart that they're still around taking chances on interesting titles/simulations etc.

Please don't take this post as a criticism on any sort of development or release, it's just that the dynamics between developers and publishers, as well as game design in general, fascinates me, as i'm sure it does a lot of players. this is more a question that i would expect to be answered in some sort of AMA as opposed to a random steam discussion post, but any insight or links to any sort of development blogs are welcome.

at the end of the day, both Microprose as legacy publishers still carrying the torch of interesting gaming, and Drakeling Labs moving to innovate on large-scale FPS warfare gaming as developers, deserve credit for trying to push stagnant genres (and arguably a stagnant industry) to new potentials, so regardless what stepping stones need to be taken to make the ultimate game in all our heads, credit is due to both of you!

I apologize for replying to this so late, for some reason I am not getting notifications here even though I am subscribed to the whole forum.

In regards to our outstanding publisher agreement, we have actually already fulfilled all of the deliverables for Warfare long ago. As Microprose is much more directly involved/entrenched in this title than they are with O:HD, if they want to continue with development, that will require support from them, as we are simply not capable of both working on this and O:HD at the same time with our studio size and resources (although work on O:HD still technically benefits Warfare, as they share the same framework/codebase—any advancements made to O:HD also applies to Warfare and vice versa). We are discussing this behind the scenes, and I can't really comment much on that at this time, but that is the reason why Warfare has gone the way it has.

We personally feel that Warfare released way too early, and we aren't that happy with how that went, but we didn't really have much say in that. I understand this has been a frustrating process for those that might have been looking forward to this title, but it's more complicated than I think most people understand. It's really not as simple as "omg developers abandon this game"—I can guarantee if these people were in our shoes having to make the decisions we do nothing would be different lol sometimes you have to make decisions when none of your options are ideal, so we are just doing the best we can with what we have at our disposal.

That being said, Warfare is not abandoned (we may be slow but we are still committed to bringing updates to Warfare when we can)—we have been very clear about how Warfare fits into our studio and what the development process with this game is going to look like (nothing has really changed since our first initial announcement other than expected timelines). Furthermore, the team is actually working on overhauling Warfare as I am typing this message—if you have access to Test Environment, you can actually already check this out yourself. There is still work to go to catch it up to speed, so don't expect it to be quite up to parity with O:HD just yet, but that is happening right now. As far as future updates to Warfare go beyond this one, that again is really going to come down to whatever we work out with Microprose.

We are not planning on bringing on a publisher for O:HD. Microprose has a publishing title basically just in logos/marks only, but that is about it. We 100% fund and maintain that ourselves with virtually zero assistance from Microprose (if I had to quantify it, it would easily be <1% of our total expenditures/efforts), and they have zero input or decision making on what we do with O:HD.

I can't comment on Ground Branch, as that is not something I have knowledge of, so you'll have to ask them. As I mentioned above, technically Microprose does have publisher on O:HD but only in logos/marks (you honestly probably wouldn't know it otherwise).

I hope that answers your questions.
