Smaller scale maps?

Hi, watching a few vids of the game and I noticed that the game actually forced you at the start to expand the map, rather than just sticking to playing a particular small town/ city somewhere. I wonder, is it not possible to play the game on a smaller scale anymore? I get it, you expanded the maps and that's very cool but I am not a fan of that chaos as it mostly just ruins the immersion for me controlling the emergency services for such a huge area and would like to just chill with smth smaller like in the old game, is it not possible to do that anymore?

Would actually be nice. I started a game in my Town, which is in Mendocino County, CA ...it's a small town and i had to expand the map. The ways are sometimes tooooo long and cash for backups not available all the time. It would be great to start small and as you expand your fleet you can expand the borders. Would be awesome ! Other than that it's a ton of fun so far!

Small maps would be neat from a perspective of playing in towns that are very low populations. Like the only fire department being volunteer or etc.

yea im pondering waiting till they change this to go back to playing it so i dont get burned out by it. lol

I just wish the game wouldn't force me to spend all the points when I start a map. Right now, I have to play on easy mode all the time, as you then get less points to have to spend...
