How to Kick Jump?

Hi,
I got really stuck in Kick Jump Grotto because I cannot figure the kick jump mechanic. Could somebody write it down because the image in the level did not include buttons.

I have tried kicking while jumping, pointing down while throwing the cube, I feel like I have tried everything. And I have seen the YT video on level playtrough and still...

the kick jump works as follows.
whenever you are in the air & throw any objects down, you gain additional jump height - if thrown when you reached your peak height already.

it's called kick jump because it looks like gr-18 is kicking the stuff down.
