I can only say this, this is much more in depth and complex than Strategic Command, thats not a bad thing though. Its just what it is, if you want a very in depth WW II Operational level game, and dont mind a learning curve this is the game you want. If you want a more Axis and Allies on Steroids game the SC is the choice. Now when I say AnA on steroids thats not a insult as it is a excellent game, this game is a far more advanced user game .

This is also not WWII based, its dependent on the chosen Scenario as to the era

It's this latest one the best one to get in the series?

I was just thinking about this recently. I have TOAW IV and TOAW: CoW. If I had it to do again, I woulda passed on IV. Imo, it just doesn't bring enough new features to the table to make it worth the price. At best, it's a very good mod of CoW. I've been looking at the Decisive Campaigns series. I like the idea of trying to manage the personalities of the biggest players in the war in addition to managing troops. That's where I would've put the $30 that IV cost me.

This. No hesitation !
This one, though I would add that the best WW2 strategy games imo are the Grisby, largely because this game has been made to cover multiple 20th and 21st century conflicts, whereas the Grisby ones are very focused. The grisby games are of course limited to only one theatre depending on the game. they also the best when it comes to accuracy but as a result can be very hard to get into in particular War in the Pacific.
This game is still great though. and has a ton of WW2 scenarios. But I think the most fun to be had is in the cold war ones, like Vietnam.

Imo, the Toaw series, but especially IV, suffers from a bad interface. It is basically the same as in the original, which is 20+ years ago. It was tolerable in the earlier iterations. But CPUs have advanced quite a bit since then while the UI has not. The current state is inexcusable. The wargame itself is one of my top 10 favorites. The UI sucks.

This is very accurate statement !! Its not a game killer, but it is cumbersome compared to Todays UI .

Strategic Command is One game really although some extra scenarios have been added, but TOAW is diffrent its a Folder Full of scenarios from all eras bit of a pandoras box. Both are good buys anyways so not too worry about that, they are both top notch Titles.

I would prefer The Operational Art of War!!!!!!!!! It s much more realistic!!!!! It has a special attack menue, where u can pick exactly which oh the 20 units that surround the enemy unit should attack and which not. That s really cool!!! Also the game goes much more in detail. U can get an u it report of every single unit. There u see what kind of
Tanks, infantry or for example mortars etc. etc..... Everything is there like Tigers, Sherman's, Jumbos, all different tanks and infantry units........ Strategic command does not have this. There u only have light tanks, medium tanks and heavy tanks... It mir feels like a more complex version of Risiko or Axis and Allies. Also a good game but I would recommend The operational art of War 4 definitely.!!!!

That isn't my experience. I bought this lately and it works fine for me. Why it doesn't work for you could be due to a multitude of factors. Such is the nature of PCs.
