Is this - ACTUALLY - a walking simulator?
Some people are telling me this is a walking simulator disguised as a horror-adventure that holds your hand all the time, always telling you what do or where to go next. Is that true?
Many thanks.

This looks just like that Blair Witch game that is out. Lol. Talk about copy and paste.

There is a combat section along with a boss fight pretty early in the game. Standard FPS control.

if you re comparing this game with blair witch , you don't know any s h i t about what is a horror game. You shouldn't comment on every discussion sections of games by watching videos.

This is not a walking simulator buddy .This is a survival-horror game that also has enigmatic elements , including a mysterious storyline .
if you want to play more action based game , you re at wrong place .( I recommend you to wait for RDR2.) You re also still in a wrong place if you didn't notice (no way for that) how many people gave this game positive reviews in store page...

You shouldn't give a damn to all of commentators around you because most of them doesn't know what's horror game..

But is it true that the games takes you by hand, and move you from one puzzle to another, telling you what to do and how to do it? How is "survival-horror"? There is combat? Do you have to run and hide from some sort of monster? Or is just all about ambience and atmosphere such as in "Layers"?

No but if you get stuck, your character will give you a clue on what to do next or how to solve a puzzle. So there is hand-holding but it is only triggered if you haven't progressed for a while, which I think is really good.

I'm up to Ch. 6 I think and there hasn't been any 'hiding' from anyone. The horror elements are excellent and what helps make them excellent is they are broken up via puzzles and other story sequences. To elaborate further would be to spoil the game but for what it's worth I am really enjoying this game.

There is a free demo available on Steam. You should try it out if you're unsure on how the game really looks. Drop us some feedback when you find a chance to play :steamhappy:

Why not try the demo out? It's free. I wish more devs would release demos so I wouldn't have to refund or waste money as much tbh.

A number of times you will have to blast anomalies with your tracker before you can unlock an image in the area, there is a fps boss I had to put 30 bullets into to put down, you will be running for your life in more than one area to reach the end point, you will be sneaking/running in one area where you have to get through a door and block it to close them off. When in the present there's more exploration and puzzles while in the past there's more survival. It has a little bit of a lot of different things that make up the game. It feels a lot like Layers of Fear in some parts and in other parts more like Amnesia. You'll have to play it for yourself.

Its a first person horror game. The term walking simulator is a buzzword used by people that don't like the genre. You fight some things, you run from some things and you solve interesting puzzles. I put emphasis on interesting because most puzzles in games are completely uninteresting.

If walking simulator = holding your hand, nearly every game released qualifies. By any rational definition of the phrase, this game is not a walking simulator.
alexUnder Oct 20, 2019 @ 10:07am
This is definetly NOT a walking simulator. It's not even a usual modern horror hide&run type of game. First of all it's a story driven mystic/detective game, thus you have puzzles of very different types. Next it's a horror thus you do have hide&seek scenes, chasing AND firing back scenes. So it's also a FPS from time to time. More of that you have 2 different timelines at XX century (post WW2 times) and at 19th century (basically Ed Poe times). And that leads to very different type of interactions with objects linked to their specific times. Anyway all in all TBI It's a mixture of genres and very unusual one. And you should definetly give it a try!

Only played for a few minutes (Just left the basement of the house), and while I havent gotten far, it doesnt seem like a walking simulator. These games do limit what you can do because they are realistic. You can open every drawer and there is an edge when doing this because its dark and you never know when something will jump out at you.
