The Mines

OK, if you've already played through the entire game, then you have an idea about how far into it I am with me being in the The Mines (past halfway? 3/4?).

Anyway.....I'm not getting it. The character speaks out loud about going in circles (yup, sure got that right!!), and when he notices those green lanterns lit up high on a rock shelf, he says something about them being able to help.

He also says out loud about perhaps finding a clue that will help him get out of here.

I checked some video walkthroughs on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbQfjczerJE), and I tried to emulate the path I saw (paying attention to the Roman Numerals above the archways I, II, II, IV, etc.), but when I imitate a path I don't end up where the person in the video walkthrough does.

What am I missing? Are there clues I'm missing? Do I have to find one of these clues he mentions out loud before I'm allowed to move on & advance?

Does the game's Difficulty Setting have anything to do with it? I'm on the easiest Difficulty Setting (and I noticed that the game allows you to skip some puzzles if you want by pressing & holding a certain key (R).

Any tips & help would be appreciated.

I had a terrible time getting out of those damned mines. I almost gave up the game because of it. You have to make sure you reference your notes that outline the roman numerals to pass through, in that order. After I got out of the mines (FINALLY), now I'm stuck in the well and can't get out.

Ive been though the game once the game crashing and all as for the well throw a rock at the water bucket to nock it down climb up the chain and when he said the plank about to break hit the correct mouse buttons in sequence to climb out of the well.As for the mine i kepted running untill i found my way out. pushing the mine car through the wooden planks. Pulling it out the closed steel doors after opening them with the cranks and pulling or pushing the mine car past the swich on the track switch the track and push the mine car untill it rolls down the hill and though the wooden planks go down to the bottem of the hill and jump down the hole in the ice to face the boss gilbert.

Then run to the left after your on the ground though the mine running the opisite way from the mine miners untill you get to gap to jump over and tap the correct mouse buttons to pull yourself up from hanging from the gap and get though the door to escape the mine miners forever.
Then deal with gilbert ducking behind the steel plates on the bridge one by one untill you get to a gap to jump hide behid the the steel plate in front of you.

And then turn the steel crank to get the wooden basket over to you ride it over to the other side run jump the gap and putting the pick axe into gilberts heart and the masked man will finish gilbert off just remember to advoid gilberts ice storm attack one hit with his ice storm attack will kill you.

The axe monster chase out of the inn is the same stradgy just make sure you lock pick the door fast to exit the inn and just run from the other monsters on the mine tracks untill you have to tap the correct mouse buttons to pull yourself up from the gap run untill you see a dark hole to go down end of chapter for the inn.

Easy - on level -1: go through corridor marked as I next II and then III.
on level -2 and -3: find clue (question mark on the map) and go through corridor in order from the clue

i've REALLY enjoyed this game up until the mines. havent gotten through it yet, but its more annoying than fun. might not continue. devs, i'm sorry, but... WHAT WERE U THINKING?!! ;P so frustrating to have such greatness and then throw a roadblock liek that in there. its just not fun.

The mine is the worst experience i have among all games i played. T am really fed up with the game because of that. Big negative recommendation for that game because of that.
