Chapter 4 door lock puzzle

OK, stuck here and a little confused given the lack of feedback .

So there are two wooden knobs with numbers on them. I've looked at the strange note from Gu Chuan, and it seems to indicate that the 3 winds up on the left and the 4 winds up on the right, but that doesn't do the trick.

I'm not sure if the note is related to this puzzle and though I've tried every other combination, still no dice to unlock the door. Clearly I'm missing something -- anyone else connect the dots here?

You have to add numbers from the left and right to get the needed numbers.
The note tells you the added number in the middle and on step 2 the left number and on step 3 the right number.

First step:
left: 3 / right: 2 (together 5)
Second step:
left: 3 / right: 4 (together 7)
Third step:
left: 5/ right: 4 (together 9)

I have tried the number combinations mentioned in the above post plus several others but still no luck. I have tried turning the knobs left and right on both sides but still nothing. Anyone know if I'm missing something for this puzzle?

Nvm I realised what I was doing wrong

How did you work this out? The answer to this riddle is obvious, but making the arrows point to 2 and 3 does nothing.

You have to enter all 3 combinations in only 3 moves total. i.e. the whole puzzle is only 3 clicks.
