Horde advice?
Anybody have some advice on what the best hordes are? I am enjoying the game but the fact your entire horde is pretty much made of wet tissue-paper detracts somewhat. Giants are the only ones that can take any damage but the D*mn clerics insist on standing in front of the giants so that they get killed first. It's just starting to get tedious as I progress having to revisit the areas more and more times trying to figure which hordemakeup is the least bad.

Maybe it's the way I leveled up my necromancer, but I've found most of the units quite powerful; you usually want a few giants like you said, a few melee, lots of archers, and a couple of support units (at most, 3 or 4). It also depends on your spells and abilities, if you have items that enable animal undead to attack faster, you should include lots of bears, wolves and scorps too.

If you are still having trouble keeping your healers safe, add some cavalry units so that they intercept the foe as quickly as possible. Maybe a more detailed description of your horde and the spells that you are using can give us some clues as to what could be missing.

Only lvl12 and every level took the reward to max Command Cap which is 708 with the gear I have. Tried adding bears and wolves but they still end up getting shredded. Only at The Bridge of Elements and I can end up defeating a roaming horde of mobs and a single house before I have to revisit the Crypt to resummon yet again from the statues. I've considered the Named summons except for having to pay money for them and only getting a very select few.

That's very strange indeed, I've basically steamrolled the entire game, with that same Command build. Here are some additional tips, you may already know a lot of them, but here goes anyway:

- Find all of the secrets on each stage, and destroy all living creatures; the rewards could give you more exp and rare items, to either use or sell.

- Call back your units if they seem to be in trouble; once they regroup, send them forth once more. It's very important to give the command to attack, otherwise, most of them are just going to clumsily stand there disorganized while taking hits, and doing very little to defend themselves.

- Destroy the houses first; call your units to you and bring them towards the target house, it's ok if you lose some of them, you can always resurrect as soon as the first enemy units go down. Have your necromancer attack the building directly.

- Always focus on recruting the most elite units, the ones at the far right are usually way better.

- Play to the strength of your gear; if you are using a ring that gives fire to your projectiles, include many archers, if you are using a vampiric/health drain ring, include lots of melee.

- Use your spells/scepter to the best advantage, if you create walls of bone, wait for the enemy to group up to get them all in a single swipe of your wall.

- Always try to equip the best gear possible, level up your merchants and try to get purple and gold items.

- Named summons are not necessary, they are more of a luxury; I cleared the entire game with only normal units.

- Last but not least, constantly resurrect fallen enemies, add them to your forces as quickly as possible; I've had many moments where my forces seem invincible because, as soon as several of them go down, many others take their place.

I hope those tips help :summer2019horn:

I had no idea this game was part real-time strategy so it's much harder on me. Have gotten lucky with a few drops. Got a staff that increases magic power of support units by 175%. On 2nd era and almost no mobs are scaled to compete with the units you used at the end of 1st era (though using much less for now)

I'm on the second era myself. Have any of you guys tried rolling for stats with all the merchants? Like paying the tribute

Not me, I stopped playing this game a while after I finished it.

Some items increase Unit's HP or attack speed. if you stack a few of those effects, you might have some strong offenses. And try to use spells correctly. Bone walls can prevent enemies from moving or get to you, so you can pretty much cut enemy armies in two.
