regarding Chapter 16 - MASSIVE SPOILER

did any1 notice everyone whoever is allocated with Raz on the suicide mission will have different voicelines during deployment?

I actually spend a bit of time and shed a bit of tears listening to everyone's Resigned yet firm voice one by one. It was a really hard choice knowing some of them have sickly parents, children or lovers waiting back home, yet they still sound resolute

I also noticed the unit will also have departing lines at the end of the mission before they go with a bang

I love how the devs really put a lot of effort for this mission

Who did you choose for Raz's partner and what memento did you get?

I chose Teresa and she left me a scalpel accessory (+3 dodge)

I think this is my most favourite chapter in valkyria franchise so far, just from the weight of the choice alone

i used the guy who looks up to raz as his hero, i dont remember his name, hes a shocktrooper, and when u complete the mission he seems happy about his choice because hes helping raz the guy he idolized, i dont remember the item i got tho

I couldn't lose Vancey, she's too good once she unlocks the former elite potential via her squad story with Zaiga and Gertrude since it raised all her stats. And since she also has double attack and has a major vs. personnel skill, she was pretty much like a female version of Raz stat-wise and hence my go-to trooper especially in the story missions after Raz was gone.

Instead I appointed a corporal ranked Odin as leader and had him go with Raz, and used direct command on Odin to carry Raz first turn past the pillbox and crawled through the shocktrooper to come out either before the bridge or - if Odin's double movement triggers - at the start of the grass patch right near the end, which made the rest of the mission a cinch.

wait you can do that? sicne the game notify me that i cant bring any1 assigned as leader as raz partner, i may even retry

its interesting everyone have different memento, i havent tried it, but i wonder if we can farm all the different accessorries< i kinda want to see the different outcome for everyone

You can't bring the "essential" squad mates like Minerva, Kai, Riley, but you can position a scout first to go with Raz and then go back out to the Reassign Squad menu to manually appoint him/her leader before the fight. Since you can get a lot more legwork during the first turn's white out, it's easy to 2-turn the mission - or if you really want to push it, use Odin and save/load until his first turn with direct command also triggers double movement, then APC a lancer or an anti-armor grenadier to blow the tank then run through to the end with Raz and Odin.

oh ok my scout was a leader so i cant put her w raz, so its kinda "exploit" where you put the scout w raz first, then go back and reassign the scout as leader? that is good to know

You don't have to feel so sad, theres an option to resurrect any dead characters after you completed the game.
To resurrect Raz you will need to unlock a few hidden missions. After you completed that he can be resurrected as well.

im aware of that im in post-game, but canonically speaking, whoever we send is... dead, even though we can resurect them but still at that point of the story they re yea...

I was like what? are you kidding me? i am forced to lose 2 characters?

I sent out Scott. He's by far my favourite in the squad, but I figured, story wise, it would make the most sense. A shame, really, as he was my go to shocktrooper for the whole game up to that point, but it felt right.

I even thought just to send Raz alone and the game forbids you from doing so, and im like "omg"

but yea Teresa was also my favourite scout at that point, just have to send my most favourite unit to feel the impact of my choice

I went with Aouward, he leaves behind a book, that gives +1 defense. He was great, but he was great, but the other engineers had better backstories.

I chose Keigel. He was glad, that it was him, but not the young ones. He leaves a letter from cadet he once trained. +3 vs Armor
