Chapter 14
This mission is the worst in the series. Yes even worse than having to chase around Dahau in the woods. Whoever designed this map should be fired.

So, the Vulcan is invincible. I have bombarded it with Grenadiers for a million years and I cant even destroy the gatling gun. Lancers deal 0,00001% damage to the radiator and that only when they feel like it because there's a chance they will miss the hitbox 1 time out of 3. The gatling itself has a super narrow hitbox. I have been sitting here for 2 hours straight with everyone dead or dying trying to finish this fight but it is not only boring but also infuriating.

How do you even finish this quickly?

I recommend setting your motars to Anti-Tank then bombarding it on the radiator. Don't worry about the Machine gun.

For the side with the valkyria, either have the APC pick them up or have them near the flag to evacuate to not waste AP. If you have to force Evacuate, try to minimize it. Keep any of the AP characters under a barrier with a roof and use your APC or Glory to run as a distraction (Optional for vehicle). If you lose any vehicles, use Emergency Repair as a ship order to help you back on your feet.

For the side with the Vulcan, If you've been upgrading the Hafen, use it as a shield but don't have the radiator facing near the enemy where it can get hit super easily and with the mortars shielded by the Hafen. Clear the back side of the Hafen with a Stormtrooper or your second vehicle. Have an engineer near by so that you don't have to worry about ammo and repairs. If you use the engineer, have them run around the grenadier team and repair the tank.

I finished it in 5 turns for a B.

Here's a 30 second clip of how I had it, near the end

SPOILER

No I am talking about Chapter 14, where you have to rescue the Cavalier. I need to use the ruins to put the Lancers into position and destroy the Vulcan.

Honestly, it's a shame. Every character has their own story you'd enjoy and you also unlock some nice traits (or replace bad ones) on them that way.

I am aware, but I want to do all side content after the main story is cleared. I think it's also more challenging having bad traits since the player is always more than one step ahead of the AI.

There's a super easy way to do that mission. Give a grenadier (I used Aiofe, she has lots of anti-tank perks) the anti-tank (not generic) launcher. Take the left side base, then place your grenadier and an engineer up in the building above the tank's spawn point on the right side. Skip a turn to double your command points, then take the right side base.

Use the demolish order on the grenadier, perhaps even the aim one since it's cheap. Be sure to place the grenadier's targetting "X" directly over the radiator, not the tank's barrel or any other part of the tank. If you have to you can save/reload between shots.. but you should be able to fairly reliably land at least half the shots on the radiator. Hits there take ~20% of the tank's health.

Chances are that the enemy will never even get a chance to react to you in that second phase, and the first phase is a cakewalk. The Valkyria can be entirely ignored in the second phase since she'll never get the chance to do anything, and you can even leave that base (and whole half of the map really) entirely undefended.

this mission is reallly easy with proper setup, since you know where vulcan will appear, and how to trigger him to appear

so just put engineer and a AT grenadier (you can use the +range accessory if need too) on right building, (the one w the base)

you can even skip turns to accumulate turns

1st turn, just clear as many enemies especially the tanks

i use APC carrying AT sniper + engineer + AT grenadier and slowly carry him to the NE side of the map, use the APC to kill as many troopers as he can, then deplot AT sniper to destroy any possible tank

send Kai to kill the sniper on the right side, then send shocktrooper on foot to kill the lancer on the right side

send Hafen to kill 2 tanks on the left side

use minerva + shocktrooper to the right side and kill any infantry then crouch

if theres spare CP move the shocktrooper on the right side slightly nearing the base

-------------

2nd turn , capture the west base w shocktrooper

set up your AT grenadier and enginner on the building on the right side

clear the enemies camping on the east base and the rest of the tank (DONT capture yet)

if you want to kil the ace, you can put your apc just right behind where the Ace spawn (he will spawn w the boss)

once all properly set up, end your turn

--------------

3rd turn, save your game if you want, demolish boost your AT grenadier then capture the east base

you should have around 11 CP left, then now just slowly bombard vulcan to death with your AT grenadier on the right building, use engineer to restock if you want to, if you position your units right, the shocktrooper that spawn on the building wont even notice you, if he pose too much trouble, just kill him with your engineer's grenade

you can even kill the Ace with your APC if you want, if you position your apc right, the boss wont even hit your APC

you should even have spare CP once you finish bombarding vulcan to smitherins + the ace weapon

Mission is not harder then the others. I finished in 3 Turns. The Trick is to wait 1 Round before taking the second flag, so that you start with full CP.
Another Trick is to simply take the right flag first and call 1-2 Grenadiers and 1 Engineer there before waiting said round.
It took me 9 Grenades to kill it. I used the Elias MA4R. Radiator hits DO deal more Damage, about 25% more then Chassis hits.
So You need 11 CP to kill The Tank, resupply the Grenadiers and kill the Ace with a sniper.

And thats without rushing towards the Flags. I simply didn't clear the upper ruins.

You can just take the left side flag with a scout and a trooper with 2 cp, and take 3 lancers and an engineer to the right side flaf with the apc, then, just gangbang it with the 3 lancers and restock ammo when needed, should be done in the first turn
