Is Neige the worst sniper ever?

Her having timid personality is a huge no no especially for a sniper.

She is unfortunately. Her timid potential activates even when she is hidden in grass, etc.

Edit: Actually, the potential I was referring to is Stage Fright. not Timid.

i noticed all the potentials activate randomly and don't seem to be triggered by what they should am i the only one?

You are the only one. Every potential does have activation chance (usually 10%, increased by morale status) and there may be some potentials with terrible descriptions barely matching their trigger condition or being obscure (i.e. proximity to metals has nothing to do with tanks, as you might expect), but once you've figured out WHEN it procs, you should be able to reproduce every activation (assuming you save-load until you get the proc just to see it happen).

i guess its the chance that makes it seem random
although some seem to trigger when they shouldnt

Meh, I use Neige, I don't care about her downsides.

Everything is RNG anyways, I don't personally know how much of it is RNG, but I do know all characters have their flaws. If you're compariing her to Kai, yes, she's inferior in every way possible.

Compare her to other snipers, nah.... Just RNGesus at work. I've used Neige for a long time, and had no problem.

I'd personally just use characters you enjoy. It's what I did, and had no problem beating the game, and expert skirmishes.

One of the worst characters in the game for sure, not only she has an awful Potential that can't be replaced, but it's a very easy to trigger Potential given how you can sometimes meet the requirements multiple times during the same action.

You need to do the sniper character missions "The Price of Skill" to "clean" her Stage Fright potential out or you'll keep getting stuck. It procs when 2 or more enemies spot her so she needs to be really, really far back if she has not been "improved".

If you're talking about real life though, it does not matter, only the person's ability to put a round on target.

The squad story will only replace her Timid potential. She will still have Stage Fright. Moreoever, Stage Fright will still trigger when she is the one seeing enemies ( I know this because she proc even when hiding in grass with blue sight lines)

She wasn't bad right at the start of the game when you were unlikely to see so many enemies at once. In the latter half, though, just bench her and get somebody in there that can fight.

Shes actually easier to use when you have a squad leader or acp drop her in place. Late game she can actually become a more accurate sniper than kai IF her battle potential pops

Late game, no one can match Kai. She has only one negative potential "Empty Stomach", and a ♥♥♥♥ load of positive personal and class potentials that activates frequently, which gives her an improved zoom, an evade/defense, extra ammo, and most importantly anti-personal.

To all the Neige naysayers.

Hardly a bad character. Her Stage Fright is less of an issue than it is in previous games, since Snipers rarely need to move much, and they can use APCs or be carried by Direct Command for any long travels. The secret is to not move her if there are 4 or more enemies in her sights. Any less, and her potential won't trigger. Missions with low visibility, nightime or low enemy density will make that potential a non-issue. I always use her in any run of the game, and never had her Stage Fright proc due to always sticking to those rules when using her.

Her personality only makes it all the more enjoyable to shoot enemies with.

Finally, Snipers in Valkyria 4 are the best they ever been in the series, meaning that Neige is by default already better than many snipers in the series.
