What is the best DLC to purchase?

Just purchased the main game today. Looking to purchase only 1 DLC, so as to get the 2 free DLCs. I'm more interested in the story. The price difference between the DLCs don't matter much as they are not substantial. Recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Expert Skirmishes for me. They are very fun post-game missions. But if you want story, Two Valkyria is what you are looking for.

Two valkyrias from what i've heard doesn't add too much to the story and you can only play it after finishing the game

I went with a captainless squad since it looks like a pretty cool story focused on the squad members.

all are good but expert skirmishes is a must to enjoy 100% contest , other are for fan of the series like me

Some DLC are for early game. I was by chapter 15 and when I played Edy´s mission and the Squad 7 ones, enemies didn´t scale so they were easy.

Captainless Squad on the other hand is more mid-late game

I actuely kind of liked captainless sqaud.

The maps are re-used but the missions are pretty fun and challaging if you ask me. Story wise its not that great but the characters get more screentime in it witch is a good thing in my book.

Sqaud E to the beach is more or less a comedy ep, 2 missions on 1 new map. map itself is if you ask me pretty neat and the extra cutscenes are good if you ask me. But if its worth the price depens on you.


I have yet to complete the game so I have to wait with the 2 valkyria and Expert Skirmishes.

I do recomend to ignore the Advance Ops DLC (unless you realy, realy like Edy)
A united front is a good choice you liked the main cast from the first game.

I assume their get-a-free-copy-off deal wont stay forever in case next week or so the deal ended and someone else sees this tread.

Note that most of the DLC only unlocks after you're a good way through the story. I would highly recommend 2 Valkyria and enjoyed the others, but if you're unsure it's probably best to wait until you're far enough in to unlock them before shelling out more cash. The store pages all say when they unlock. By that time you should know if you enjoy the game and would like to buy more content.

Squad E, To the Beach! - The Only DLC to feature a new map. The rest of the story is a filler story with high emphasis on fan service. Unlocks Swimsuit costume for a lot character.

A Captainless Squad - Another Filler Story, But this time explore a lot of squadmate personality.

The Two Valkyrias - Excellent Side Story, Unlocks two valkyrias post game and two midgets. Only downside is there are only 2 mission available.

Advanced Ops - No Story at all, One very easy (Moderate if play with unupgraded squad) mission. Unlocks that annoying Edy Nelson and a Machine gun.

United Front with Squad 7 - Filler story, Unlock Squad 7 member. Poorly tied in with Valkyria Chronicles 1 event. Explored a lot of Main Squad 7 and Squad E personality.

Expert Level Skirmishes - You think Hard Skirmish is hard??? Expert Level Skirmish will kill you in less than 5 second.

A Captainless Squad if you want to explore Squadmates Personality
The Two Valkyrias for Unlockables and excellent story
Expert Level Skirmish if you like VC4 gameplay
United Front with Squad 7 for Nostalgia
Advanced ops if You are a Superfan of Edy Nelson (Is she ever popular?)
And Squad E, To the beach! if you're horny.
