Story continuity between the games?
I just got VC1, but I love it so much that I know I will want to play more when I finish it. If possible, I would like to skip the PSP games. How much story related stuff will I miss out on if I skip the PSP games and go straight to VC4? Or can I just go straight to VC4 with little to no confusion?

The only relation between the 4 games is Dr. Clementia Förster, who does the R&D on the weaponization of Valkyrias and sometimes does a cameo in each game. There's a bit of storyline, but it's not really impactful in any way. You can totally skip VC2 and VC3 if you want to.

VC2 and VC3 can be ignored.
VC2 happens after VC1 and isn't that connected story wise.

VC3 is a side story occuring at the same time as 1 and 4.

VC 2 is a couple years after VC1. It's a sub-par School Time stereotype and the three central characters are near carbon copies of Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke with only one or two differences. They are so similar I can't even remember their actual names (the naruto copy is pretty much the same, the sakura copy is somewhat more cheerful, and the Sasuke copy is less edgy; that's about it). None of the other characters have enough character (haha!) to make up for all the time spent focusing on those three.

If you really, really want to go through VC2, I would highly recommend watching a Youtube walkthrough instead of buying it.

VC 3 is done at about the same time as VC 1, but with a group of Federation misfits and a darker tone. Not as bad as VC 2, but not really in the same style/spirit as VC 1. Again, watch a youtube walkthrough, though the game is worth its current price if you want to play it.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The Nameless squad in VC3 is from Gallia, not the Federation. I agree about VC2, but I think the third is worth playing, it has a more mature storyline.
VC2 and VR aren't canon.

VC2 is canon, why shouldn't it.
Its stupid and took the series in a whole new direction. VC2 only happened because VC1 done so poorly initially and they were looking to reboot the series. Same with VR. I'd be surprised if anything at all got mentioned from VC2 in future games.

That's your thought, still VC2 is canon. The quality of the game is another matter.
