2 is...ok...but not great
3 is vastly superior but still not as great as 1
Remakes of them.... Nah... 3 was okay, and told the story of what went on behind the scenes of VC 1, but, wasn't really enough for me personally.
And VC 2, was your basic anime school rpg.... Don't get me wrong, I love anime, but VC 2 was just so out of place, it shouldn't have even been made in the first place. I'd put it up there with that action based Valkryia chronicles, I forget the name of it, that's how bad it was...
Honestly, VC 4 was kind of bad too, Storywise anyways... The side stories are what sold the game. The main story was basically "Blah blah cry cry, I'm not as good as this certain valkyria, let's destroy the world!". And in all honesty, the Valkryria in this game is just that.... She sucks, which is why they had to bring back the Main Valkryia from VC 1, to show how inferior she actually was, and is, provided you have the DLC to get them as playable characters lol.
VC3 is the best storywise, it manages to capture and keep the dark and gritty atmosphere and feel of it's game throughout the entire game
VC1 is probably equal to VC3, better at some parts and worse at others
Then Its VC4 in which the story was the weakest part of that game, it pretty much just relied on Gameplay which was just improving what VC3 added along with ship orders and the Grenadier class. Also the Side stories I found to be better than the main story and the Main characters Were just bland, The Valkyria was just ehh, Claude was just Welkin and Kurt combined into one character, the Villains were probably the worst part of that game though.
I'd Put VC2 as the worse out of all of the games though like you said Humor, although I would say it escapes being as bad as Valkyria Revolution.
I agree with you here, the only problem is would they want too go back and give it an official dub / sub, instead of having to use the fanmade one.
I'd love to see them revisit 2 and 3, but I think they'd have to do something quite substantial with them to make them stand up on PC, otherwise might aswell just emulate.
Without spoiler, for those who never play VC3, the story set the same times as VC1 and VC4. In VC1, you play as gallian Militia, in VC3 you play as gallian Army (let just say a "special" part of the gallian army). Unlike VC1 and VC 3, you only have a small squad around 24 by the end of the game including dlc character (there a very valid reason for this). But due to small cast, each character have very unique model (not just different head, but also different clothes) and deep back stories. In each cutscene, most of your squad have dialogue and present in the story.
Plus due to the small number of squadmates, each character are not lock to one class, you can change them to any class you want anytime before battle at camp but each character have their own preferred class and this will give you bonus stat point. like the main character have bonus stat if you choose shooktrooper or sniper class.
What i like the most about VC3 is that you have 2 set of abilities which you unlock per character. One abilities set is relate to the character (like brave, fool) and can only be unlock by progressing the character side story. Meanwhile the other is relate to the class (like extra move, extra bullet) that is unlock by playing that class for that character and when you change class, the ability remain unlock for that character. I remember if you play lancer you can get "recovery ammo" ability, this is very useful abilities for your sniper, now he no longer need to be supported by an engineer for bullet. It like an RPG mechanic, where you mash up different class abilities to optimize you character fighting ability.
In term of tanks, you only have 1, but you can customize it before any battle, it can be armored transport, it can be a light tank or heavy tank, you decide. You can change its camo also.
