Which weapons are you using?
Obviously the best weapon is "Comrade Cannon" a medium turret which lets you snipe enemies without even triggering a combat. You can add ship's momentum to projectiles and easily snipe enemies.
If you use the mouse only for the turret controls Its much easier to control the ship without turning it. Change the ship direction to up than control it with W-A-S-D. Its best way to play the game.
I Got myself a Ferox (Battleship with 2x Big Turret, 3x Medium Turret) from Jupiter. Game lacks of good weapons only Big Turret I managed to find so far is that two useless laser in Jupiter.
*Missiles are useless on long range they won't change direction until its too late to turn.
*Beams are weak, short range and useless.
Our best bet is spammimng long range projectiles. If anyone knows any good weapon other than a comrade cannon i'd like to try it.

I think a lot of beams are actually getting more range when you upgrade then :D. Some should be quite devastating later on.

The Comrade Cannon is quite useful though :D.

The next update (which could release any day now) will also introduce new weapon features btw.

Thats wonderful! Can't wait to see the new content.
Only beam weapons I tried so far are the Big Turret beams in the jupiter's one of the shop. (Imperial Justice and Light of the Twelve) Which there is no way to upgrade them and with almost 1k range they're more like a mid range because they won't get extra range from the ship movement.
Is there anything else for B-T slots? I keep exploring but coudn't find anything yet.
I keep Ferox in the garage until I find any new B-T weapon. Just found a POTEMKIN. 5x Medium Turret perfect ship for spamming Comrade Cannon and its just 28k credit.

edit: Already switched to ARIES. BTW, with using save/load merchant refresh exploit, purchased 6x Supreme Shock Turret from Phobos. (Than used same merchant exploit to purchase 6x Supreme Comrade Cannon + 162 Titanium for their upgrade.) Each shock turret has 720-ish DPS and those turrets, those 4.3k total dps can't even one shot a single tiny enemy. You can easily clear 4-5 tiny/mid enemies with one shot of 6x Supreme Comrade Cannon which each has 89 DPS. NVM during early versions balance issues are normal.

I use a kind of weapon with the word "sniper" in the name, it's unbelievable. I hope it stays that way, because it's shockingly good
: )

@yuki: that is good to hear, I'm still waiting to build my Aries without losing all blueprints. No pressures though *wink

@bunny de fluff: We really wanted to push that fix, but we already had those weapon updates implemented and then couldn't because they still messed up the tooltips xD... but should be done very very soon (finally :D).

I one shot folks with my homing nuke, one nuke is all it takes to even drop a big ship. Im flying a destroyer ship, built for speed and sharp turns.

I like 2 fully upgraded MK5 mining beams on my shuttle. The dps is insane but I need to get in touch with enemies. Needs some skill flying and goes wrong sometimes though. Have not tried the bigger ships yet since the npc ones I see flying around seem so clunky, slow and boring. Beeing small, fast and agile also prevents some hits and allows for gtfo. But I'm aware this playstyle is probably not suited/advised for the whole game.

@Henry: I found out that all homing weapons can only be fired properly after you middle-click the enemy to target it first. If you didn't do the middle click, they will hit almost nothing going straight ahead.

@bunny de fluff: I don't know what to make out of your comment. I have never used missiles in Gaia (and don't intend to). To what of what I said do you refer?
bunny de fluff Nov 17, 2021 @ 8:58pm
@henry: nah, just in case you want to use them. Not about anything you said at all.
bunny de fluff Nov 17, 2021 @ 8:59pm
Some day, when you tired of mining beam, you could try out some Lightning Swarm!
Falaris Nov 22, 2021 @ 9:08am
I'm a big fan of homing missiles, I tend to get the haas raockets from that prosthetic base. As the pirates get stronger you also find some interesting weapons on them.

But yeah, using a Martok? (CoC light cruiser) with 3 comrade cannons right now. They seem very low-tech but brute force - but they're hardly the end-all weapons. Their advantage is low cost, if anything.

Try to keep your distance, and use weapons with a wider damage cone, easier to hit something that way : )

When I first started, I had to find something with greater than 400 range to take out the laser beam guys... and now, I found that hit/run tactics... strafing to dodge projectile/missiles really helps. The caltrops are fun to use too :) They will actually work as a shield against missiles and you can just back away and let them fly through the mines... The caltrops also work well for breaking asteroids.
