At the moment there are no branches where you can save Devi (we are adding an alternative route for the Caduceus arc at this moment where it might be possible). But there is actually a route where you can save Kalypso (it starts off quite early though).
The main story will continue with a future update (we are planning at least 4 more chapters till the main story is concluded). Sorry for the waiting time but it's gonna be worth it :D. You will be able to play it with your old savegame!
There's also more changes coming the end mission, a lot of people tend to blow up the endboss first before killing his guards and at the moment he still respawns as long as those guards are not killed so it's a little bit awkward.
If you had started Lost Luggage before the update, you need to talk to Kenak's Assistant again to restart the quest. It should then continue normally (before the update you could already start the questline, but the beginning was just accidentally pushed on steam, sry :D - so in your savegame your missing an item from the beginning of that quest, but restarting it at the questgiver should be no problem).
Chests like FTA cargo containers of the lost luggage box should respawn and drop always stuff BUT in the future the FTA at least will try to stop you from doing so, because it's like their stuff :D. So if you gonna try it, you're gonna have to fight their guards off. It's a feature planned for the near future :D.
Thanks for noting the respawning of the drums :D. That shouldn't actually be happening. Gonna take a look at that. Which is the other instrument you did find? The band members are giving some information about where to look if you talk to them more than one time in a row.
There are still some rough edges here and there but we are working without pause to improve everything and also add new content :D.
Looking forward to returning to the game in the future, thanks!
Could you please tell me if there is an estimate when the main story will be as envisioned? I would really like to start playing, however, waiting a year for bits of main story to be finished is not my forte.
We are working hard to complete every main story, but our vision is... rather big xd. At least 4 more chapters. Chapter 2 should be coming THIS year (and will resolve a lot of the questions of the first chapter). The game is worth playing right now (especially because feedback and suggestions are very welcome :D) but if you want to wait for a far more rounded and extended main story, wait for chapter 2 release maybe? It will not leave you with a big cliffhanger and if you wanna come back for new chapters later on, you won't have to remember the old storyline that much - it's more like a new season with new characters and plotpoints mainly :D. Sadly, I really can't tell you when we're going to have EVERYTHING (all features, sidequests and maybe even bonus arcs) in the game we've envisioned, because it's quite a lot. It's not gonna take another decade :D. But it's still gonna be more than a year. Some motivation: Replaying the game is actually worth it because of the different decisions and outcomes and current savegames will let you continue later on - so no playtime should be wasted. In case you really wanna wait till version "perfect", it's gonna be worth it! We just don't wanna rush or cut anything because we want the game to be really awesome.
As far as I know there are quite a few people who didn't even touch the storyline after the introduction, because they kept doing sidejobs, exploring and mining. There's a lot in the game to do at this very moment and even different routes that give way to alternate and additional (main) missions and different versions of the final mission. It's a complete package :D. We just want to further improve all those things and push the content to the max, while making gameplay more fun! After chapter 1, every chapter will feel like it's own main story with less of an open end to it, so NO new big cliffhangers like with Dr. Nortnex. What takes a lot of time is taking all of the player's decisions and their consequences into account and testing, for example. Also a lot of community suggestions that made their way into game (some are still on their way) :D!
Most of the negative reviews I read, this was the main issue. So perhaps you should be happy I did not purchase, as I would have reacted similarly in a review.
Also the next update finally introduces the "loot magnet" among other things.
Thanks for trying to clarify, and sounds pretty good, but none of that negates my point.
The chapter thing, it may seem like a good idea, but it's not. Most people simply do not wish to buy a full game, and then need to wait to play the full game. A developer will often provide the perspective "They are free updates!" while a player will often have the perspective "They are still completing the game".
Am I correct in assuming the new chapters will come with additional content? Perhaps even full fledged features? (For example, 1.3 added Scanning, that's a full fledged feature.)
These are markings of an early access/unfinished game. There's nothing wrong with that, except when the game is being sold as a fully released product.
So I really still wonder why. Why did you leave early access when you did? The only thing I can imagine is money, and this is something I can't argue with. But something makes me think that wasn't the case for you. You're your own publisher, so there can't have been a lot of pressure from "higher up" either, if at all.
You're not completely unique, there's been plenty devs that did similar things, and some of em got away with it with glowing reviews. I'm glad to see your reviews are doing fine as well, as I want this game to succeed, if just for my own sake.
