The Rogues feeling a little...weak!
Hey guys. Currently level 14, playing on Hard. Gear is what you'd expect around this level. Stiletto, Bluesteel Poisonous Dagger, Magma Shortsword. Main Gauche for my offhand. Tiara of the Heavens, Assassins Gauntlets, Lionskin Curaiss, Ironfoot Boots, Nivarran Cloak. My compaion, Hirge, is pretty decked out too.

I figured by this level I would feel a little stronger. To be completely honest, I don't hit much harder than I did at level 1. Sure, I crit a little more often with Precision Strikes, but unless I'm behind the monster, which is impossible in some cases, all I see is a constant chain of 5-5-5-5-4-12-6-4-4...etc. Pathetic damage, basically. The only time I feel strong is with a few lucky flank crits or Assassination procs in a row. Flanking is so weird and unreliable as monsters seem to either go crazy on my compaion or go crazy on me or a very weird and janky mix between the both of us. I watch videos of Warriors my level just auto attack destroying stuff with higher armor, more health and less movement jockying involved. They also get Heavy Hand and Duel, throw in some Bloodlust and/or Battle Rage paired with some Cleave and you've got a wrecking machine.

I'm tempted to start over as a different class. Can anyone suggest any tips? Current spec Stab 4, Evasion 3, Precision Strikes 3, Assassinate 3. 5 AGI, 3 STR, 2 END/INT/AW/Personality.

Thanks guys!

I agree! My first character was a Rogue, and he dealt absolutely no damage. Pls buff

I'm playing rogue as well in level 14, however, not as low damage as you mentioned. Gain flury to increase your attack speed, and try to use stab and assassinate effectively. I dont care about classes, just love to play rogue and get crits.
Another tip, try to buy scroll teleport as much as you can afford,600gp per one, super quick effective than magic teleportation or boat trip, recall to any of the city you have traveled, just make sure to save before you teleport cause it may fail. It is located in great plain wizzard guild.

Thanks for the tips! I can't get Flurry just yet as I don't have an agility accessory to boost me up to the required 6 agility. I've been spending boatloads on potions to clear out dungeons. I plan to buy one this weekend, however. I made 10k on my last mino maze run so a few more runs should get me that. I use recalls to make selling and restocking quicker but I didn't know about the teleportation scrolls. I'll head down there and grab a few of those. Should speed up questing significantly. Thanks again.

Before the agility 6, you can learn massive critical which needs str 3 and is crucial for damage, not only the high crits chance, but also has a chance to instant kill enemies lower than your current level. Whatever you switch or continue, exciled kindom wiki is the best friend for everyone.

You'll probably get more damage output vs highly armored enemies with Icicle or the Troll Cleaver. DPS is not all; high damage per hit is much better when enemies subtract a lot.

A level 14 rogue should definitely want to have AGI 6, or be very close to it; it is the trait that increases both damage (light weapons are AGI based) and defense (Armor), plus it unlocks the most important skills like Flurry, a true game changer for the melee rogue.

there are some basic rogue skills that make you more efficient in combat (i.e, take less damage) and will help you not spend on potions. Kick, for instance.

I'm currently sitting at 5 agility. I didn't take the straight to 6 agility route due to the difficulty I ran into early game playing on hard. That and I wanted that extra interaction dialogue with NPCs. I'll keep plugging away. Thanks guys.

Quick question unrelated to the topic. What does slow do, specifically? Does it relate to movement speed? Or is it attack speed? Or both? I ran into a dragon and while running around his room I got my hands on a pretty nice toy and was wondering what it does. Thanks for your help and the outstanding game.

Only slows down movement, not attack.

Not real sure on the whole cleric thing you are doing.
This is only my opinion but it's heals are minimally useful as it gets no mana regen so you gotta feed it mana to use it's primary skill. I toyed with one for my warrior but went with a rogue instead.
You can heal it with potions easily(although costly). If it pulls agro then you can flank better. If you have agro it can flank. Huge dps on rogue companion so stuff dies quicker and you need less heals.
Generally found a cleric companion to be pretty useless.

I actually have not done the rogue past lvl 6 or so but my warrior is nearly 23 and has finished the game with a rogue companion. Absolutely destroys everything so fast it's trivial. Did so for the whole game.

I only play casual for the saving in dungeons so I am unsure how things go otherwise. I try to keep companion health low for fury to boost damage as much as possible. When they fall over they get back up at 50% health so a warrior companion is usually always fighting at some level of fury. Also on casual you get regen which at higher levels means you are always at 80hp and permanently in fury on the warrior. Gotta admit when you can't save in dungeons you may well need to have a cleric for heals as it would be really expensive but if it takes you 4 times longer to do it because of low dps well...... catch 22. Take longer to kill and require healing or kill stuff 4 times faster and take a few potions.

Cleric companion seems an odd choice over rogue or warrior.

PS get stun (and paralyze if class permits) weapons on both main and companion. Stuff just has no chance. Get warrior skill for your rogue - duel and the one that adds damage every hit if they can be trained. Get a fast main and offhand weapon. Insane. They turn a warrior into a killing machine. A rogue would wipe the floor with them. But I am unsure if they even get the option to train them since I never did the rogue thing really. Just a thought.

I would suggest dropping a lvl off stab and using those 3 points in 2 lvls of massive criticals to make use of the precision strikes. Also has bonus instant kill chance.

Have a close look at your skills and really try to judge if buying the max lvl is worth it.
Assasinate is for sure. Flurry and sneak attack too. But stab, precission strikes, massive crit, poison master, evasion and body development are not. I live quite well without any general skills at all. Archery ? Stealth ? Traps ? (Might want sprint on hard) Kick ? All pretty meh skills.

My rogue is now lvl 19, has 48.5 dps. I would point out I only play casual and NOT hard like you so I do not know if you need things like sprint to save you or not. It's working ashen wastes for hp pots to finish the ark (reactors on) and stuff just melts.
I agree the endless stream of 3's and 4's drifting up from enemies is sad but most stuff drops instantly with stab and if assasinate kicks in everything non boss dies really, really fast. It's low damage per hit on autoattack but you hit soo often. It adds up.

I would still drop the cleric in favour of a warrior or rogue. Even my warrior companion has a stun offhand weapon. 2 stun weapons going flat out on a boss CAN stun lock it effectively if you get a little bit lucky.

Hope things get better for you. Good luck.
