what's the purpose of the 1500 cost scroll restoration?
It doesn't revive mercs and your companion gets up automatically anyway. It doesn't seem to allow your companion to raise you either, so it's useless and extremely expensive.

High-level boss fights. They can really turn around a tough battle in which your companion has fallen. And at some point, you'll be making enough money to easily afford Scrolls of Teleport and the ocassional Restoration.

There's two type of companions, true ones, there's at the moment only three of them (Grisselda, Adaon, Hirge) and mercenaries. Only true companions live "forever". But, for them to rise again there must not be enemy around their fallen body.

Mercenaries die when they die. So, I guess you're talking about mercenaries, not true companions.

...and unfortunately you can only have one companion and one merc. It'd be nice to have two dudes that you can equip since mercs wear paper armor and use rusty daggers so they're useless except to absorb hits in the first battle of a dungeon. After that, they're dead and you're just out whatever you spent to acquire them.

Mercs are just too weak and I haven't found any need to take anyone but Grisselda, except for story reasons. I haven't found Hirge though.

Companions also don't get the same raises as you at level up, so they eventually fall WAY behind your main. They get one stat and one skill point and are very weak later on.

I dont quite like the idea of being able to equip mercs, in roleplay aspect why would you trust your merc so much that you are giving them your gears. However, I do agree most Mercs are pretty weak, and IMO it will be better if we have more Mercs variety, like rogue-based and mage based Mercs. And more expensive Mercs which are stronger with better gear. It won't be game breaking as long as they still die permanently.

I agree with all of this, Terry.

Mercs are really weak. Even from the beginning of the game. E.g. walk one screen to the right from the starting town, into the woods, and you'll often find a merc there in the wild. He asked if I wanted to hire him, I said no, then a level 4 wolf attacks him and kills him. One on one combat and he falls to pieces... Like I wanted to dump 75 gold into that. :P
