Because Giants never heard of steering wheels. In Giants' little world you have to use a f***n gamepad to drive a vehicle... and then they dare to call this a _simulator_ ...
I use a G29... i _can_ use it, but i can't fully configure it because of a bug (since FS19 release). I've reported this bug, but they just ignore it.
Even if cou can get a wheel to work, don't expect the force feedback working. Giants also never heard from FF, so no way to get the effects in FS.
That and the G29/920 is meant to be used for sim racing/driving like PCARS or ETS2/ATS, the Saitek controller with the more gamepad thumbsticks and button console fits a *lot* better since it was designed without FF in mind.
@Antaiir - Your settings are not right. Been using my G29 since FS17 (before that, a G27), along with a Logitech F310 controller for navigating outside of vehicles with no problem ever. Plenty of FFB and config has never been an issue. Recently added the Saitek with no problems except turning off some dup settings that seem to be causing conflicts.
Google is your friend (and backup for the NSA). Use it. There are tons of videos on setups and workarounds on YT. The FS Discord is also a good place to find help from people who have had the same problems as you. Just don't go in their trashing The Giant and whining. No one want's to help "those" people.
@ john7245 - Have you installed the Logitech Gaming Software and made a profile for FS19? That's the only reason I could think of for not having FFB and proper control of your wheel. No changes really need to be made there; it just acts as a driver bridge between the wheel and the game. Make sure it's not the "G-Hub" software. I think that is still in Beta and will ruin your ffb experience. I know that from unfortunate experience. Search into it and see what you can find. If no luck, friend me up and I will see if I can (along with some other people) get you running proper. Let's get this done! Farm on!
No FS ever supported Force Feedback, FS19 neither.
Please do not confuse the force that just center the wheel (no need to being supported by any game, it's set in the wheels software) with _real_ "Force Feedback", what needs being supported by the game.
Just simulating the center spring is _no_ force FEEDBACK. Contrary, when real FF is active, there is no "center spring". As you said, google could be your friend also, just inform yourself, what "Force Feedback" is (and what not). ;-)
And about the settings and conflicts: i can't even change the setting for some buttons, because they are hardcoded inside FS. I can't configure them to another funtion. This bug is reported to giants ages ago, and still not fixed yet in the current patch.
Just go in the options, try to change the button for "Open Menu" in the gamepad settings, and tell us what happens... and now please hit the "Option" button on your G29 while playing FS... and then tell me, how to change this, because i need that button for another function than opening the map. This was not an issue in FS15 and FS17... wth is it now stupidly hardcoded so one cannot just change the config to his needs?
Too many things are wrong with FS, and i have several open bug reports in the official forums since several patches... none of them are fixed yet, most weren't even red by the devs...
This is no whining, this is fact and the reason why i don't waste any more money into it. It's just that simple.
Noone said that you have to buy it!
