Can't establish connection...

Bought this game today, two copies. One for my son, so we could play it together. Well, now we're only getting a "can't establish connection" error message, and we have tried about everything i could imagine possible to fix it. Turned off firewalls, change port number, tried all servers to no avail... Can somebody help! Please! Thank You!

You cant connect to any server?

No, tried them all, multiple times. same result.

Or I can see my sons game on the server list, but when i try to connect i get this message after a while.
I see him on every server, but then after i put int the password and some loading, i get the cant establish connection message.

Does it say anything more than "Can't establish connection"?

"No connection could be made to the multiplayer game" is the full message.

I just got an idea. Did you turn on uPnP in your router settings? My second thought is that Maybe you cant connect to a server simultanously cause of the same IP. Not the IP from your computers but from your internet access point

I've searched the internet a bit and I found this:

They say that it might can be that your shader_cache folder is causing this error. Its in the MyGames folder of your Documents, where your saves are stored.

Second thing they report is that they cant connect to "German" servers but on "Europe". Did you try this out?

We both use mobile internet, thru phones. Tethered thru usb. And we probably have the same internet provider, and at the moment we are like just sitting a few meters from each other. Could any of that cause the problem?

Tried the shader cache, and deleted it for both of us. Will try the europe servers, again.

Could be, yes. But thats too far from my expertise. I'm using mobile connection as well, with no problems so far. But most of my games are telling me that my NAT Type is set as "strict". But thats something you have to call your provider for. But using mobile internet menas that you both have different IPs.

Yes, I can connect to open games. but I seem to bug out, or being thrown out, or something. But we'd like to build or own farm and stuff, this is kind of father, son bonding and stuff.

I'm completely with you. Can you try to host a server on International and see if this solves your problem?

I can "create game" in the multiplayer option, but the same thing happens as if my son create a game, exact same result. But i don't know how to run a server in that sense.
