Edit the gameSettings.xml file using NotePad or NotePad++
Look for the line like this (it's usually at the bottom of the file):
<steeringSensitivity>0.500000</steeringSensitivity>
I'm currently experimenting with a value of 0.150000
I use a standard Microsoft XBox controller for Windows, not an Xbox One controller..
thx.
anyway I found out what caused the turning/steering speed go crazy with my xbox 360 controller..., it was GPS (guidance steering mod). However, I dont have any problem when using keyboard, only with xbox 360 controller.
I disabled the GPS mod and problem solved. sigh
However, I would like to point out to everyone, especially to Giants, that this new steeringSensitivity setting does not actually affect the sensitivity at all. It only slows down the steering rack. Moving the analog stick to the same point still causes the same amount of steering angle change, it just takes the game a longer amount of time to do it. Therefore, this is actually affecting the steering speed, not the sensitivity of the analog axis. This is a big disappointment, and is not what we needed.
They should have implemented speed-sensitive steering. This is something racing simulators have had since the 1990's and makes a huge improvement in playability when using analog input. It is a proven technique and easy to program into a sim.
u sir are very true indeed
