Game thinks my G29 wheel is an XBOX controller - can't map most buttons

So the issue with my G29 wheel (and probably others too) is that it seems to think it's an XBOX controller. When I map buttons like my paddle gears it comes up "LT" and "RT" instead of "button 5" and "button 6" like it should do.

This is also why it doesn't recognise my h-shifter at all, because XBOX controllers don't have buttons 16-21.

So there seems to be a severe lack of "plug and play" for logitech wheels, and probably other wheels too judging by the amount of threads being posted here about it.

Giants if you read this, my wheel is being treated as an XBOX controller and that seems to be why. It's probably some code you forgot to update or whatever, so looking forward to a quick fix thanks.

BTW I've just tried removing XBOX controller support from the Steam controller options all together, so it reverts to default.

It makes the forcefeedback of my wheel behave a bit more correctly (not stiff anymore but still auto centres) however FS19 STILL thinks that my G29 buttons are XBOX mappings, instead of using the correct numbering for the buttons as per the Logitech Controller software. And it still doesn't recognise my h-shifter buttons at all.

I'm getting this too and the button prompts are flashing on and off between the Xbox style ones and keyboard ones! It sees my G29 in the controllers section but it just flashes in menus and game....

Go to general settings, to input help mode and put it to keyboard or gamepad and it will stop flashing like that....worked for me. Just take it off "auto"
