GPS Mod
Hello yall,

I am working with the GPS Mod, and for the first half of the field it worked fine, but then the precision was gone and the GPS lanes got wierder and wierder and it left out so much and i basically didn't knew anymore, where to set my tractor...

Help

Did you by chance have the wrong width set for the tool you were using, or did you maybe have an offset set accidentally which over a period of time produced the problem you had? I've been using the Guidance Steering Mod (GPS) for over a year and never had any issues with it.

Not sure what GPS Mod you are referring to but like cwattyeso I use GPS Guidance Steering from ModHub and have had no issues with that Mod.

I also use the GPS mod to do field work, since it makes it so much easier to keep things lined up. I am also wondering if you have the width incorrectly set or an offset added as Cwattyeso mentioned above.

If your tractor & implement is slightly out of alignment when starting, you will often see an offset set for the implement. This offset is designed primarily for plows which are often aligned off center of the tractor itself. There is a button in GPS mod that allows you to "zero out" this offset value.

I usually set the equipment width button once when first arrive at field & once more when lined up, just to verify the correct width. This usually will give you the correct value for whatever implement you are using for that task.

But some equipment (often modded versions), have extended coverage area, which you can adjust the numbers to change the width to take advantage of this extra width, or to reduce the GPS set width, if you desire to have some overlap of the various rows. I will often reduce the width setting just a bit, if on a side hill, which sometimes can cause the implement to slip downhill a slight amount. IRL equipment (such as planters, or pulled seeders) often has a separate GPS module on them just for such hilly situations, where the same "side-slip" issue can cause the rows to drift a little bit.

To add to what Merck posted, if using some modded tools or equipment sometimes the Auto-Width option in the GPS Mod will not recognise the correct width of the tool or equipment if the author of the tool hasn't set their mod up right. For example one such case of this is with the Cressoni CRX Harvester Headers on the in game ModHub, if you use those with the GPS Mod the auto-width button will set the course width to 13.7m, however the headers in this modpack are 6m, 6.6m and 7.2m, so if you don't adjust the width manually, you're obviously going to have a problem harvesting a field with these headers and GPS. So always double check your widths.

Also note if you load a saved GPS course, your width will be set to whatever width was entered when the course was originally created and saved. So again if loaded a pre-made course or switching between saved courses, always double check you set the width to what is correct for the tool or equipment you will be using.
