time and season progression
I just started FS19, have a few hours of playtime and some time in tutorials, and I have some newbie questions:
  • I've been reading about some setting to change the number of days per month, but from looking around I'm getting the feeling that this is available only with FS22 or a Seasons Mod for FS19. Is this correct?
  • Also, without the Seasons Mod, is every day basically just like all the others in terms of when you can plant crops or do any other activity which would normally (i.e. in real life) be dependent on the time of year?
  • The "Finances" tab shows only Thursday through Sunday (and "today"). Will this change as I progress through the days, or does this imply that there are only 4 days per month (related to first question above).
  • So, in short, is the speedup factor (e.g. "real-time", x5, etc.) the only way to change anything about time, and does this setting (and time and days in general) really matter without seasonal gameplay settings?
Thank you.

Days per season is indeed part of the Seasons mod. Each crop has it's own available times a year when you can plant and harvest so it changes how the game is played quite a bit (in a good way I think).

The rate of time increased or decreased just makes the time pass faster. E.g. you're wanting to harvest but it rains and are blocked from doing so. If you have nothing else to do just sitting there waiting for the rain to stop can take a long while at the lower time rates, so just speed it up and get to the next dry spell quicker. I find early game I'm more likely to use a sped up setting (when not doing contracts) just to wait for the crops to grow and get ready for harvest. Once you own more fields and you're a very hands on person, you'll find you need to slow the game down to prevent stuff from happening too fast like your crops withering while having been ready to harvest for too long.
Another use case would be if you hate nights and just want to farm during day time (though I guess you could sleep as well, Sleep Anytime mod highly recommended).

When playing with the season mod I guess speeding up time can help getting through winter a bit faster (provided you don't need take care of livestock and are just waiting for the new planting season).

no problem. Hope you're enjoying Farm Sim no matter what mods you decided on!
