EDIT: As a matter of fact, it looks like someone made a working square bale autoloader, so the log trailer probably won't be far behind.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I want this to work!
like one modder did for FS17
You need a larg amount of timber to make it work well and if you can get 2 stumps close together you can push up against them and get a good bite
my method of logging is i use the dragging thingy behind the tractor to get them all to once place, then park something next to the lose pile and use the loader or somethign to squish them all up against the side of whatever thing i parked there and make a tightliy packed log pile
then i grab from that, which will 50/50 work or just make the pile i jsut built into a huge mess for me to start over
Keep at it and you will get the hang of it.
Stop with such nonsense comments please.
Hey man, yes you are right about the Wheel Loader Log Fork 100%. That Log Fork is indeed broken and Giants should fix it.
And I know what I am talking about because I have a ton of experience in logging and know how these log physics and everything behaves when it comes to forestry.
I used this same Log Fork in FS15 and FS17 and it was by far waaaaaaay better and it worked like how it should, had zero problems with it. However, in FS19 I have done a bunch of testing with this Log Fork and yes I can safely say it is pretty dam hard to pick up anything with it just like how you said because it barley can close in on logs.
I isolated the problem and it lies within the fork's xml itself, it is the "rotLimitForceLimit"
Here is a preview of the code what it currently is:
That "10" should be raised higher. That fixes the power of the Log Fork to be able to actually grab/scoop up logs. The lower the number the less power it has to close the claw in on a log.
But because the log fork is part of the base game, changing any data within that xml file would disable the ability to play multiplayer.
I had turned this log fork into a mod and modified those numbers and now the log fork works perfect like how it should.
In short, the only way to fix this issue is turning the fork into a mod and using it with adjusted numbers for that force limit. Because like you said, the fork has a hard time closing, like it doesn't have enough (lack for a better term) scooping power to close in on logs go into the claw.
So to ease your mind, yup the log fork in its current state is pretty bad. I also think this could be the culprit with other log forks in the game.
Really love that truck. Wish it were present in FS17 as well, would've done my logging there considerably easier. Thanks to this truck, i won't be using any log fork anymore since those are PITA.
I cannot download from there, every link takes me to some weird ass PDF viewer download
