1. not enough engine power to pull the trailer
2. not enough vehicle weight and brake power to control the trailer, e.g. on downward slope or at high speed
3. the trailer hitch might be so high that it lifts the back of the pickup
No worries, I have thickish skin :)
Since I just started playing, and only had about 15 hours in FS17, I don't have any of the bigger trailers. I figured that the pickup would only be good for the small trailer.
However, I am wondering if the job might still be faster to use a truck and a small trailer going 4 times as fast, versus a tractor and a large trailer driving much slower.
I guess I will find out...
So for the start, going for a big trailer and a tractor is cheaper until you hit the horsepower wall and need a bigger tractor anyway.
So currently I am having a pickup with a 5th wheel trailer for running pallets of seed and fertilizer, as it is quickest way to get to the store and back with a quantity.
And in the later game, I haul multiple trailers at which point I am left to my semi truck to pull the entire thing for selling.
The classic of going big or going home :D
