Ravenport Lime Station
Hello-
I want to put some lime down. I bought a fertilizer tool for lime, and now I've driven to the lime station (I'm in Ravenport).

I've pulled up alongside that small silo. (I saw it in a YT vid!)

Except nothing is happening...what do I do? I guess I can also buy lime by the pallet, in the meantime I'll try that. Any hints are welcome as usual.

(Later I found that you can't get lime by the pallet, so I'm sorta stuck.)

I guess I'm also wondering whether it is safe to apply lime to a crop which is already growing, or does it need to be applied prior to sowing? (The same for fertilizer?)

Oh, and there is lime by the big bag...

Which lime station did you go to? There are two of them on Ravenport. One by the Port Elevator and another by the Biomass plant.

The Lime silo at the Port is next to the train tracks, near an entrance gate. You should be able to pull up a lime spreader next to it and press the "R" button to start filling it up. If the spreader has a cover, be sure to open it up first with "N"!

As for liming a field that's already growing... I don't know. I think it would be too late for that crop to benefit from the added lime. I have heard where people have successfully limed fields that were already seeded. I usually check my fields after every harvest, and if it needs lime, I throw it down before cultivating or seeding. I do this just to be on the safe side to make sure the crop gives the best yield.

Thanks for the reply; I meant the lime station on the western edge of the map. When I pull up next to the silo, nothing happens.

I didn't press R, but I wasn't prompted to. I would think a tool-tip would pop up, saying press R to get lime or something.

I had bought a field which already had wheat growing, and it said "needs lime." Since then I started a new game with "lime off." I'm going to concentrate on other stuff.

Make sure you open up the cover or it will not fill.

For filling trailers at silos/buy stations, it doesn't have a prompt appear on the bottom of the screen like when dumping stuff. The fill prompt appears in the upper left side of the screen, where all of the other key binds appear.

You don't have to lime a field after every harvest. It's only after every 3 - 4 harvests. I don't think grass or oilseed radish takes away lime, so if you like to plant cover crops before planting the crop you want, it won't detract from it.

The same goes for plowing. Usually you need to do it after 3 - 4 "cereal" crops (i.e. wheat, barley, canola, oat, soybeans). The exception to it is if you plant corn, potatoes or sugar beets, then you have to plow after the harvest.

Thanks for the replies. My fertilizer machine did not have a top. I may have missed the R on the top left corner; I'll look for it next time.
