Problem finding a US map to my liking
Hello fellow farmers!

I've grown somwhat tired of felsbrunn and my original farm and want to head west towards the US for some farming. But I have a problem finding a US map that suits my needs. I've tried a few and they all seem to have things that just doesn't cut it or work for me. Sadly, I do not have the knowledge to mod them to fit me. I might be asking for too much, I'm not sure.

Things I'm looking for right now.

- Seasons ready

- Ability to build my farm up as I grow. Lone Oak (as great as it is) doesn't allow me to do that, or so I feel at least. I want to make my farm better as I can afford to do so, not have a great one from the very start.

- Fields of various sizes, from small to huge. I want to use all sizes of tractors and tools. Felsbrunn never forced me to use anything bigger than a just over 300hp tractor during my playthrough. I want to go big in the US.

- A nice forestry area, haven't touched forestry yet in FS19. Granted, I can build my own using the terraintool, planter and placable trees, but an already made one just look and feel better than one I can make.

- Did I mention, seasons ready?

I'm currently testing out Midwest Horizon and sadly many areas of the map just kills my framerate. The way they made the forests is just too much for my computer. Combined with too many fields require me to smooth them over with the terrain tool is leaving a sour taste in my mouth, which is why I am writing this.

If you've read this far and know about a map that you think I should look in to, please leave ideas. Even if some of the things I'm looking for is lacking from it. I can overlook things if the overall experience is good enough.

Lone oak is a good map, but it contains a premade and wellbuilt farm, which is not something I want, at least right now.

I'm also looking for a new US farm. Suggestions appreciated!

The Pacific NorthWest and it's seasons ready. You can also build up your own farm and it's a highly rated map.

I liked Clover creek. You can build from scratch if you want. Big fields as well.

Unfortunately most of the maps are "farm my way" because the map authors build them for their needs. I don't know how much forestry you want to do vs farming.

County Line is fairly reasonable, but may have the same issue you have with Lone Oak in that the starting farm area is fairly pre-built. As it is a 4x map, you have more room to expand your farm. I quit this map because course play and the helper didn't work well because of the field shapes. The field are deceptively large.

Old Timers Farm might check a lot of boxes as long as you don't mind how square the fields are. The field are surrounded by trees, so that's something that will have to be dealt with. I might go back to this map as I think I dumped it too early. I like Midwest Horizon and it has square fields, grid roads and is more flat. I'd recommend starting on Farm Manager so all the default builds aren't there. This maps feels a little "fake", like Giants maps, but if you don't mind that it may be fine.

Seneca County is in beta and looks like it might be a reasonable addition as well. I'd probably wait on this map as it still looks to have some issues.

I ended up solving the problem by removing forestry from my demands. Created a second save game with a map with good forestry.

I settled for Midwest Horizon after I relocated my previous farm to a new place. Still areas on the map that kill my framerate but I keep away from them without problem. Started from scratch, sold the vehicles you started with and built my own little farm area using a small pre-made farm area. Room for expansion and already had some cover for my tractors and equipment.

Sadly, some maps which look great and play great suffer from AI not being able to help out very well. To me, that is a big no-no.

Fenton Forrest 4x or Ricciville may work for you.

seneca county direct download on american eagle modding site. it's good map with few flaws but nothing biggie but you could start build your own farm somewhere in the map... its season ready and stuff that you want to follow up on its latest update is in the AEM forums

another suggestion is MidWest horizon by mike lowrey also in AEM
