Thanks for the heads up. I will check out your video in the future and I will watch a few guides before and after I purchase the game.
If there are aspects of the game you are interested in, such as: Forestry, Agriculture, Baling, Animals. You SHOULD look up the walk through videos associated with those things. You may like the idea of it and have expectations. Manage those expectations by seeing how things actually work in the game.
Not gunna lie, was going to come in and say the same, I have had a few goes at this game but it was after watching Farmer Cop that made me realise how much fun this game can be (and how relaxing it is too)
Here is his Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/FarmerCop
Some proper great tutorials and even goes into depth with some mods if you wish to get more out of it. In answer to your main question though, this game is very easy to get into. The thing that overwhelmed me were the control combinations, but after a while you get used to them.
Depends if you had no clue how farming worked and common sense starting would be hard. Just having a basic understanding of real life will help alot. If you ever get stuck you can always go to youtube or this fourm. But yes I would buy farming simulator can be even better when played with freinds.
But generally, I'm learning as I go. The map gives you all the important information you need about your fields, such as if it needs ploughing. I've just started playing around with the landscaping tool to edit fields.
Expect to restart a few times initially as you learn things, but you'll get going pretty quick!
Also, have a look at the mods - they're really well integrated into the game and can be downloaded from an ingame menu. Some are really useful, again there's videos for that, but one of my favourites displays an information box in the corner telling me about what I'm looking at (e.g. state of growth in a field, or condition of a tractor). So useful.
So gameplay-wise, you'll be fine... IMO, the real issue is that to play *comfortably*, you need a steering wheel/pedals controller at minimum, and preferably a side-panel with a bunch more buttons and a joystick (for telehandlers/front loaders/cranes, etc.). For me, using just the keyboard and mouse was frustrating as heck until I started using another $300+ worth of hardware.
Something that took me a bit of time to figure out is that some of the in game options for things like steering etc are only available once you've loaded into a map. I really wish all options could be set globally from the main menu. For example, I turned up the steering return option to 100%, although that's not as easy at higher speeds I find it easier at low speeds where most of the game is played.
