Any plans to fix forestry?
It's completely scuffed lads. Hit boxes on tree branches are all over the shop, whole tractor tipping over picking up a tiny branch, claw folding itself inside out, utterly banjaxed....

Try the Ponsse or similar equipment. Once you have the controls down, it is quite easy to clear a forest in no time. I have used joysticks in the past, but currently use keyboard & mouse, & have found it to be very easy to master.

I often find wooded stretches of land, which I then clear to make my own fields or building sites.

Komatsu 951, its a mod but damn good Forestry Harvester.

My biggest issue with logging was getting the logs picked up after cutting them. I solved that issue with an auto-loading trailer mod.

Check out FDR Logging mods. He’s got a fairly active YouTube channel.

I downloaded his mods and enjoy logging now. However i think he also modded his trees on his maps.

I did use his bunchers on full size trees that i planted in SLovak and had some issues, but overall it’s was a better experience. How ever i was only able to do one tree at a time otherwise i would tip.

Processing and loading was much better too.

Now I could be wrong, but it didn't seem to me like the OP was asking for mod suggestions to help with the core problems of forestry in FS. This is and always has been an ugly mechanic of the game. As far as I know, no, there is zero work being done on that. Maybe it might be improved in the new version when it comes out, but I'm not getting excited for it atm.

Doubt it. FS19 is done with. FS22 is coming this fall, they are working on it now.

FS17 was bad when it came to forestry. Bad hitboxes for sure and scuffed physics. FS19 came, it got even worse somehow.
I have no hopes of FS22 being any better. They won't even release a proper dedicated server, just trying to milk out the last drop of money of the fans.

branches? ponsee. the answer to everything logging is bigger machines and auto load. now auto load might not be your cup of tee. but its the same as the rest of the "jobs" on the farm, the bigger the machines the faster the job goes.

No can do, PhysX is bolloxed to hell and back so until that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is sorted by Nvidia, bouncy and weird physics can't be avoided.
Save your sanity and use the lumberjack mod with the super strength, it will give you a chance to get stuff sorted straight with the logs before you get hair or skinless by ripping it out in frustration.

The Fliegl Timber Runner Wide With Autoload Wood (https://farming-simulator.com/mod.php?mod_id=147397), works real well for loading logs.

I also use the Ponsse, which I can set the lengths of the logs it cuts. Once cut just pull the semi with Fliegl trailer alongside logs to pick them up.

Finally I like the Firewood mod (https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?mod_id=199803), which allows me to use an axe to chop stumps & any other odd pieces of trees.

I prefer to use the super strength check box included with Easy Development Controls (https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?mod_id=138864), since I have had some issues using the lumberjack mod.

The physics is ridiculous since ages in this game. It was in the previous versions and it will be in the awesome superduper next generation FS version, that may come upon us. There was, is and never will be a fix for this.

Lol love this thread and it's answers so here is a necro.

Yea autoload is your best friend, along with the Bruks although i hate that mod, not because it doesn't work wonders because it does, just because even for me it is simply too far off of reality.

Yea Forestry has never been good in FS, i am not holding hope 22 will improve it, nowadays i avoid Logging unless i simply can't.

Pretty much follow Merck's advice, Fliegl timber runner auto load trailer and a Ponsse harvester. It's the planting that's a pain, if you use a hire worker they are bound to go wrong and if you drive the planter it is very slow and you are forever getting tree pallets. Also it takes about 9 game days before you can harvest. BUT you will make buckets of cash when you do log the trees.
