I have the PC but should I get a steering wheel/pedals for this game?
I'm just wondering if a steering wheel/pedals would make the game "more fun" or should I just stick to the good ol' keyboard/mouse? Let me know your thoughts guy. Looking for serious opinions. :) Cheers!

Totally yes. Wheel and pedals work really well with this game for me. I just plugged it in and it worked no messing about. Improves immersion 100%.

If you play right now KB+M don't go for a Wheel.... you'll get bored and it will sit taking dust in a corner within 1 week. At least buy a gamepad... it could be used for 99% of games whereas a wheel is only kind of "pro" gear which mean dedicated players to lots of sim games.

I do have a wheel and even a wheel stand in front of a 1m20 screen... it sits taking dust because I'm not enough dedicated and prefer using gamepad from time to time.

But thats my opinion ;)

I've played the game with keyboard+mouse, gamepad, and wheel+pedals. The gamepad is the best option by far, imho.
It can handle all the tasks in the game with just a few extra buttons from the keyboard, and the driving precision is more than good enough.
Meanwhile, a wheel + pedals offers you a lot of driving precision that is simply not needed, while you still need to use keyboard+mouse for anything that is not driving.

I second this.

A regular X-box controller is plenty for anyone who isn't a die-hard sim fan. The problem with wheel/pedals is that they take up considerable desk space, and if you have to use your computer for other things (as in anything that doesn't require a wheel) you'll be constantly clamping and unclamping the wheel to your desk. This gets very tedious very quickly, which is why so many steering wheels end up gathering dust in closets. I know from personal experience.

I have 2000+ hours across games that support steering wheels, and I would never trade in my simple game pad for a steering wheel setup: at least not until I have enough disposable income to own a separate computer 100% dedicated to steering-wheel sims.

Thank you all for your great input! I'll consider doing a blu tooth xbox controller. I do have one but it has a terrible drift so I need to get a new one lol. Would a simple wireless USB gamepad be optimal as well? I found one for less that 20?

I can't speak for wireless controllers as I prefer wired tech, but literally any xbox or ps compatible gamepad these days would suffice. You'll get your analog steering and triggers which will allow you to control the vehicles more accurately than with keyboard/mouse. Keys can be remapped but default settings work fine for me. Once you get used to the various shift-combos (LT or RT with XYAB) to control the implements, you'll hardly ever need to touch the keyboard at all.

I use a G29 wheel and pedals and love it. I set the wheel range to 500 degrees, rather than default 900. I've set up many of the wheel buttons for various functions too. I think you could also add a HOTAS joystick, like the ones you see in modern tractors. Just another USB connection.

I run the G29 with a Logitech xbox style controller and the Saiteck Panel. Not only total immersion, but makes so many operations so simple, I could play in my sleep now. Not to mention that it opens up options to other sims like ATS/ETS2, Assetto Corsa, iRacing and quite a few other games I play that have driving options. The truck sims are pretty fun and relaxing.

I did start simply with the Logitech F310 (about $20 US from Amazon), back when I bought FS15, and even that made things a lot more fun and smooth. Sometimes I still use that if I don't have the time to set my full dashboard up. If you start with something like that, you will be able to decide if you want to upgrade to a wheel setup pretty quick. By the time FS17 came out, I already had a G27 for Raceroom and Euro Truck Simulator 2 and quickly found that to be a stone groove. Especially after Mogli's Gearbox Mod came out. (Those were the days).

There is a lot of better equipment out there, but G Series wheels are a good value and work just fine. I let the e-sports guys buy the "direct-drive" and handmade expensive stuff.

But my advice would be to get a controller and see how that fits you. With some time spent button mapping, you will definitely enjoy that. (And so will your Carpal Tunnel). After a little while, you'll know if you want to go with a wheel. Also FS22 will be out soon and there will be plenty of community feedback and support if you decide to get that and go the wheel route.

I was thinking about that @ravensview. I'm not sure if FS could support another controller (I already use 3), but perhaps with some creative button mapping, I could add that to my setup. I use a powered USB hub to take some of the load off of my computer.

Not to mention the flight sims I already have. If I do it and get everything to work, I'll post a setup guide though. lol
