Rain
Q. Can it be disabled ?

Because it literally makes no sense in a game, firstly i can leave a trailer full of crops in the rain and it dont rot, i can leave the harvester top open and again no damage to the crops inside. Next up it doesnt rain in showers, but in full day/night cycles...

and i crap ya not, last night i literally watched an entire movie on netflix before it stopped raining in my game, and since i was unable to do anything at all i ask myself whats the point of rain in a farming game when the result is just down all tools and do nothing at all.

Who wants to play a game when your literally sat there watching a movie instead !!

You could change the time scale to make the rain pass sooner.
Shane Aug 27, 2020 @ 6:13am
well turns out if i get a mod i can do it
https://steamcommunity.com/app/787860/discussions/0/1742268394987807272/

but i dont bother with mods, so i guess its fast forward time or watch a movie forever more

It literally does make sense in the game. Not as much sense as it could but it does.

Rain means you can't do anything? I call Bullcrap on that. You can Plough, Cultivate, Seed, Fertilise, Herbicide whilst it's raining. You can technically mow grass fine in the rain. You could ride your horse, or generally feed and maintain your animals, you could empty manure or slurry tanks from your animals, you could transport and sell crops, you could transport and sell excess animals, you could cut down some trees and do some logging. There is plenty of stuff you can do whilst it's raining, the only things you can't do is harvest cereal crops or make hay. So those two things hardly can be considered preventing you from doing anything.

I use rain days in the game to do all the farm admin and business type work, that needs to be done.
Shane Aug 27, 2020 @ 12:50pm
yes thats all very true cwattyeso as long as you actually have a field that requires any of those actions right,....

and since im new to the game right now i have chickens which means feed once per two days, and cleaning what once a day

i assure you my current stance in game when it rains amounts to doing nothing or more apt unable to do anything, i do at this stage address your cut down a tree...

okay i conceed i could cut down a tree, but im not going to do that...

Do contracts then if you only have one field, plenty of contracts will let you do other things. Plus as mentioned plenty of other things you can be doings like transporting and selling crop, or restocking your seed/fertiliser/lime pallet supplies from the store. I have nearly 4000 hours active in this game, and don't ever struggle to find things to do when it's raining.
cwattyeso Aug 27, 2020 @ 1:07pm
I wouldn't say cancel the contract, I would say just accept and undertake another one. Come back to harvesting contract once it has stopped raining. I mean you do know how to use a Mod like Multiple Contracts right? Which lets you accept and do more then one contract at a time? Rain is not trash, you clearly are and are not suited to playing this type of game if you don't have the imagination or the intelligence to do any of the many other things that have been outlined whilst it is raining in game. Or are you so bad at the game all you can do is harvesting?

you cant do that, your only allowed one contract per time, lets say i have invested time into a harvest contract that is 98% complete and rain hits...

meanwhile i have sat on my own farm x3 fields ready for harvest
(we are talking about no mod game versions)

here is what i propose to devs, a option in settings...
simple and honest !!

its a option that allows harvest during rainfall or not (sorted)

You can you just need to install the Mod from the ingame ModHub:

https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?lang=en&country=gb&mod_id=157489&title=fs2019

You can accept and have all the contracts active if you want, which means harvest contracts can be paused and left whilst it's raining and then resumed once it's finished.

You can even combine it with the mod that lets you collect straw from contract mission fields, so if rain does stop you harvesting you could switch to collect the straw instead or baling it. https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?lang=en&country=gb&mod_id=153568&title=fs2019

Very simple mods that every player on PC should have installed.

As for you Dev request which by the way they won't see here on Steam as they never use these forums only their own Official Giants Forum for such things.

They won't give you that option because in real life you can't Combine Harvest when it is raining, because the Harvester will get all clogged and choked up on wet material. You are forgetting this game is called Farming SIMULATOR so you have to expect it to have some aspects within it's gameplay that are based on Real Life. If you don't like real life farming, then again maybe Farm Sim is not right for you, have you tried Farmville instead?

I do read the thread, I just don't understand why you are not using simple and perfectly good mods which fix all the problems you are here crying about. You do realise that Mods are what expand and give Farming Simulator most of it's life and replayability? If you are just playing Vanilla then you really are not going to have such a great time. You should jump into mods, you'll find loads of really good ones, have way more fun with the game and never look back.

The easiest solution was already given to you, which was install the Easy Dev Controls Mod, which will let you change the weather you whatever you want in game. Don't like it Rain, one button press and hey presto is Sunny and perfect again.

Rain is not a bad mechanic, you are just a bad player, 169hours on the game, you've played it for 5 minutes then compared to many players here. Don't like weather mechanic in the base/vanilla game, then I strongly advise you to never download or try the Seasons mod because you'll definitely hate that, and if you complain about not having anything to do in game now, in Seasons you'll really be unhappy when you reach Winter or Summer.

Big problem to me from this thread is you seem far too singularly focused on harvesting and this game has so many more things you can be doing in it, you need to have stuff you can fallback on when something like rain comes along and throws a spanner in the works. Having 3x of your own fields sat waiting to harvest is just frankly bad planning on your part. You should in the base/vanilla game try to stagger your fields so they don't all need the same thing at the same times, this will again give you plenty of other options should you find can't do one thing.

any other BS argument you wanna try ?

So if it's raining why are you not fertilising field 19, then seeding or planting field 19? Why are you not fertilising field 26 or weeding/herbicide spraying field 26? Right there are several things you can be doing whilst you are on here crying and complaining the game does not let you do anything whilst it's raining, which is just complete BS that you keep trying to argue here.

I feel I'm in a battle with an idiot here and it may be time for me to back away, because unfortunately when fighting with an idiot, they will just grind you down and beat you with their experience.

If you want to seriously learn how to play this game, I could help you out, I could also point you to my YouTube channel with many videos on the game that will show you what you can do in game, but right now it's clear with your attitude and mindset you can't see reason and can't see there is no fault or issue with the game or it's mechanics. To reword a popular phrase "Don't hate the Game, Hate the Player."

Just to give you added insight, I'm currently playing Farming Simulator 19 on the No Man's Land Map, that map has absolutely Zero Fields and Zero Contracts, I'm not finding any issue keeping myself busy and finding things to do, and I don't plan or doing any seeding/planting or harvesting during my current let's play on this map.
