Is this site safe to download off of?
Me and my friend have recently been using this website fs19.net to download mods. When I switched to Chrome yesterday, I found the site is listed "Not Secure". Is this site ok? Have other people had problems with it? Thanks for all info.

This version of the site is secure https://fs19.net/

I would, for the sake of safety; just make sure you don't enter any personal info there. Like creating an account or anything like that. Chrome is saying that some things are sent out in the open. But most of your connection is safe and they have a verified Security Certificate. So it's all good. Better safe than sorry. Smart question.

I personally wouldn't download anything off that site. It would seem it is one of those many scumbag sites that just re-uploads mods it takes from other sites, including modders own pages, and then puts their own download links, meaning everything you download from there is going to help them profit, whilst potential exposing yourself to ads, malware or anything else the links direct you to, meanwhile the people who actually made the mods won't receive a penny for the work they did. You're better off using the Official Farming Simulator ModHub Website to download mods, and if a mod you want isn't on there, go to the mod author or modding groups own pages or websites direct. Never use 3rd Party sites to download mods people.

I often find mods at this site:
http://www.farmingsimulator19mods.com/
It has never asked for any information from me, & appears to use modders direct links when possible.

I second that....It's the only one I use if I can't get what I need from Modhub.

That's not an Official Site either, and is also another site that takes modders uploads, re-uploads them without permission and changes the download links to use Modfile.com so that they earn money off every click.

I did a quick search on that site for 'Lakeland Vale' a map by the mod author Stevie, who doesn't upload his maps or his mods to any other site then his facebook page. And what do you know every version of his map is on that website. They also have every version on a Modfile link. That's unacceptable. Stevie always releases his mods via a link to his Google Drive, meaning his downloads are 100% free.

So again please add http://www.farmingsimulator19mods.com/ to the list of websites NOT to download mods from as they are not supporting any mod maker or creator, but only stealing work and mods for their own financial gain.

I completely agree with this post.

I agree, that's why I like Steams own workshop, or in this case the Giants Hub - I really wish for PC version of the game they had steam workshop for the mods that don't get through the testing at giants hub. I can also keep up to date on the latest version published rather than go hunting for a later version (if any).
Pulikutya 9 JUL 2020 a las 11:52 a. m.
I would recommend finding the original upload, and only if its not available on modhub. If the mod is new, it will take about two days to appear on modhub. As for security, do not log in anywhere.
The rest depends on what kind of security measures you use.

EULA says you are not allowed to monetize mods, so the creators earn nothing either way.
cwattyeso 9 JUL 2020 a las 1:30 p. m.
Creators on the ModHub earn money from Giants on a "Pay per Download Basis" which is why sites that take ModHub mods and re-upload them like those mentioned in this topic are taking potential earnings away from creators, as unless mods are downloaded using the original ModHub link or via the In Game Menu, the download does not get registered to the creator and they don't get paid. As for Creators who host mods on their own sites or pages, they are not allowed to charge people for access to mods or to download mods, however they are allowed to accept Donations from people who want to say thank you for their work. This has been addressed several times over on Giants own Forum, and there is a pretty good long discussion on there in a post called "Stop the Pay Wall" where Giants Staff clarify what creators can do to earn rewards for their mods which don't break the EULA.

All the websites mentioned so far in this thread are monetising downloads and the downloads are not their creations, so they are breaking way more rules or EULAs.

If anyone chooses to download mods from 3rd party sites, make sure your anti-virus is up to snuff. The one site I have used hasn't had an issue if you don't go clicking on the other spam links it tries to throw at you. Having IE/Chrome/Edge or whatever browser you choose have the option to show what type of file you are downloading will go a long ways too. If it is a .exe run like heck!!

Have never, NEVER, had any trouble with any FS mod sites. Use MS security essentials, AdBlock Pro and my head.
cwattyeso 10 JUL 2020 a las 11:35 a. m.
That's fine to avoid the viruses, malware and other such risks on those site. However using those 3rd Party Sites still condones mod theft and you're still rewarding them financially for stealing and re-uploading mods without permission from the original author.

Simple Rule to Follow: Only Download Mods from Giants Official ModHub or Mod Author/Modding Groups Directly. Any other site is Unofficial and should not be used.
