As above, but also any of Oxygen Davids maps are a good place to start. Well built map that are easy to get around. No real room to put down your own buildings though.
If placing your own buildings is your style of play, then I would recommend No Mans Land. Map is blank with a small starting area and one point to buy/sell every thing. You basically build you own map how you want it, and it gives you all the things you need to make it feel more like a place (sell points, decorations etc.). Plus there's all the other placeable stuff out there to fill in the gaps the map doesn't give you.
I did try a lot of modded maps, but imho the Giants maps beat them all in quality, not in functionality.
I have experienced that the former Giants FS17 maps do quite well in FS19 once they are properly converted and de-bugged. I'm back on Gold Crest Valley now and I'm quite happy with it. It has room to model it to your own preference.
I would like Giants to produce more maps than the obligatory two in each release.
I also like to buy land near the shop, so I don't have as far to drive when I buy stuff. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for the tips.
Yes, I'd much rather more maps, which I'd happily pay for as DLC, than the overpriced (IMO) equipment.
But choosing a different map is an impossible question to answer. What i do is search Youtube for any map I'm interested in. There's a reasonable chance someone would have done a review, so you can see what it's like. My own view is, if no-one has put up a video it's probably not any good lol.
I'm currently playing Green River 19, which is a good map. Though the BGA is VERY overpriced :(
Sunny Bay is the most popular and is regularly updated to support other mods.
The German equivalent of Sunny bay is Geiselsberg.
Tyrolean Alps is my favorite when I want to play on difficult terrain, and it has lots of detail, even fallen trees in forested areas.
There is a polish map called swietokrzyska wies ...or something like that.
Holmakra 2020 is a good Swedish map.
As you can see, there are quite a few good maps on modhub alone, but if you are looking for one that is suitable for building, try large American maps.
