Steering Wheel worth it?
I have a G920 and Warthog and I was wondering if it was worth hooking them up from experience in FS17. I just hate how a steering wheel eats up my desk space, the Warthog isn't bad obviously because it stays out of the way.

If the steering wheel/joystick setup seriously improved qaulity of life in FS17 I'll consider it for FS19.

Thanks in advance.

Like you i have my wheel never installed. Not just space issues but im lazy to get it all installed.
Add in a warthog and assigning all those keys, i mean, if you have the patience why not.

I don't find the game is particulary great with these inputs. I'd personally only bother if they properly support VR this time, but judging by their every 2 year release the game barely changes at all.

It was a great setup in 17. I'm sure it's not changed, unless they have compatibility issues. They have that Logitech farming sim package[www.logitechg.com] that is based on a similar system, so removing Wheel/Joystick support will upset a lot, especially as they marketed that one for themselves.
Honestly, If your willing to set it all up, go for it. I myself have a wheel and pedals, but I never used em for farm sim.
The problem is there is still a lack of force feedback support. When there is both ForceFeedback support as well as VR, it will be very much worth it. As a side note on amazon UK you can buy the saitek/logitech farming sim wheel/pedals and side panel for cheaper than most places are selling the side panel.

I've had a Wheel for years, but never used it for FS13, 15, or even 17 on it's release, due to the fact that setting it up is a pain.

However, I recently set up my wheel for other Games, and decided to download 17 again in participation with 19's release, and I must say, I've been missing out for sure. It has added so much more to the experience, especially with TrackIR of course.

The downside is sorting out your Key Bindings, as there are so many options to bind, and the fact you A] can't do so ingame, and B] they really should be categorized...

Although if you want to just test it out, forget the Keybindings, and just see how you find using the Wheel.

It is fun for sure :) And if you add a regular joystick on the side for loader/tele hydraulics, it's pretty close to the real thing when it comes to fine control. You can use the twist axis as the loader claw open/close etc.

The setup felt not too far removed from the John Deere I used to drive a few years back, albeit a little less refined.

Space is the only enemy.

I imagine with trackIR or similar thing, steering wheel would be quite awesome. I might go and wishlist it for xmass... just a basic wheel, you know? I'd love the farming one with the little joystick though.

^^^^ agreed, much better with a wheel but you do have to live with the lost space or dragging out and setting it up each time you play. In a perfect world we'd have separate cockpits all set up for driving, flight sims...AND a nice desk to work at besides :steamhappy:

Downside being that the wheel does not seem to be good for other driving games (no FFB) and I don't know, is it a three pedal setup?

Nice! I might look at setting up my Saitek Joystick as well then. I've currently just been using the Analog Stick on my Controller for Hydraulic Systems.

I am waiting for black friday to see if there any deals on a new wheel setup then this will be what I am doing whilst I save for the logi/saitek side panel as I can use it as a general button box for sim racing/flight as well as farm sim.
Really hoping Giant considers FFB support as part of an update
