When people ask about a dedicated server and 2nd copy they are not asking about renting a server, they are asking about running one themselves.
Exactly! I have an ESXi host at home. I have no need to spend more money to rent something I already have. This is the only game that I have ever seen that requires you to buy a second copy of the game and all the dlc to run a dedicated server. Complete garbage. I'm out on this then.
Thanks for the response GIJoe597.
Epic FS19 dedicated server does work. I'm hosting now with it.
For anybody in the community who wishes to do the same and is in need of instructions, here's my contribution to all you farmers out there:
1. Launch Epic Store
2. If the game is already installed in the Epic library then proceed by clicking on Settings (lower left)
3. Click on the side caret next to Farming Simulator 19
4. Check Additional Command Line Arguments
5. Add inside the box "-server" without quotes
6. Find your FS19 installation path. Mine is installed on D: drive. ( D:\Program Files\Epic
Games\FarmingSimulator19)
7. Edit dedicatedServer.xml , change admin password and save. Leave folder open for now.
8. FIRST (after setup), launch Farming Simulator from the Epic Store. The game will launch itself and load in console mode.
9. SECOND, go back to the path folder of FS19 and launch dedicatedServer.exe
10. You will probably see the bug in the webUI that says, "Game is not activated. A separate Farming Simulator 19 license is needed for each Dedicated Server" like I do, but if you run everything in order per instructions it will START and be ONLINE. Just make sure you have all the right ports open on your firewall.
Thanks so much, it worked perfectly! At first I thought it hadn't worked but I realised that due to the influx of players, the server browser isn't working very well right now!
Terminal Meltdown
You should post that on Reddit for infinite Karma
Still waiting for my infinite karma though :D
Thanks buddy this really works!
Get my reward.
Funny part of the story: most people complaing about this, don't really _need_ a dedicated server. They could just host a multiplayer session... <shrugs>
