What trailer can I pull behind this harvester? (image)
For chaff? Because the harvester won't unload into the one in the picture. The only option I get for unloading is when I have the trailer selected, and it just tilts the trailer up.

I'd hire someone, so I could just drive alongside the harvester? But that won't work...the harvester just stops in its tracks the second I hit "H" and sits there, so I have to dismiss the worker and do it myself...

All in all, its like I've been given absolutely no choice but to have this be as complicated as possible and I'm wondering if someone can hold my hand, talk to me like a baby, and tell me exactly which model and size trailer I need to have pulling behind the forage harvester.

I'm going on an hour with this bullsh--, I'll take anything...any advice at all.

There's one in the sugar tech section you can pull behind the forager, cant remember the name. It can also tip in to other trailers. If you want a more dedicated trailer for the forager, look online for some thing called the Krone Cargo

Also, in that screen shot you have the wrong header for picking up swath, that's more for maize/whole crop (wheat/barley/oats). You need some thing that looks more like this: https://www.claas.co.uk/blueprint/servlet/blob/1798528/92a559377a4a48131626c4080cc9ea10/jaguar-attachments-pickup-stage-pic-1-data.jpg

Oh I wasn't picking up swath with that...whatever swath is, I was harvesting the corn into chaff with it...
To pick it up, I used a loading wagon...then ferried it back and forth to the plant with that. Yeah I might be doing this all wrong, I'll take a look at the equipment you pictured/linked and see if that doesn't tip me off on the right way to do this. Thanks Ferrus.

Swath is the term for the lines of grass & straw you leave behind after cutting.

Your best bet is to go get the Krone Cargo rather than using the sugar cane trailer thinking on it. Makes life much easier on yourself when the hired help wont play ball. Found a vid that roughly shows how it works : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lad4Uh3NF-Q

Try the Fliegl BULL it will likely hook up I think almost the only one. When purchasing you can up the load capacity to 40,000 and hook two of them together for 80,000 if one works.

2 trailers, one harvester...

You can use a semi trailer dolly on a forage harvester. One method is to have a helper fill a semi trailer while you run a full load to the silage pit. When helper fills up, fire them & swap the full trailer with the one you just emptied, hire them again...rinse & repeat.

If you're going vanilla I prefer the 59k cap red semi trailer for this method.
There's a 70k cap in modhub that can link more than one with a dolly.
Worth noting, not sure if a forage harvester will fill the linked mod trailer due to the distance they would be apart. Might want to test if using that trailer & the mentioned method before you spend a small fortune.

Hey I appreciate this, its getting to be that time again so I'll take a look, thanks!

Done and done, thanks Ferrus...one of the more unique pieces of equipment I've seen too...getting ready to try this stuff out, thanks much.

Trying it out, thanks again Phugly.

Edit: It was the harvester....just didn't occur to me that it'd be a harvester problem. Jumped up to the next harvester and stuff is working, I can actually shoot into a trailer and everything, its a frigging miracle =P

Hey just to be clear, I can't have a helper fill a semi trailer while I run a load to silage pit because I can't get a semi trailer to fill while attached to the forage harvester...know what I mean?
I'm not sure if its too far back or what the problem could be, but so far I've found exactly zero trailers that I can unload into.
I looked into the semi trailer dolly, but don't see how its supposed to attach to the harvester unless I put another dolly between it and the harvester...at least for the one that I've found.

Just going to ask again...I've tried the trailer suggested here and haven't gotten any to work....if anyone is hitching a trailer to their forager, could you see about taking a look at the model and passing in on? This has been frigging insanity lol

My fault for misleading you with the dolly. I switched entirely to grass for silage since FS17. In 17 you could attach the vanilla dolly to all of the vanilla forage harvs. As you mentioned, not the case for 19.

If you're wondering why I switched to grass..it requires less work & less cost (no tilling, no reseeding & one less round of fert), grows faster (should note doesn't yield as much per harvest as corn) & requires less equip cost to start up. For vanilla just a tractor, mower, windrower & loading wagon or there is a mower (Novacat A10...impressive machine that really exists) that creates swaths in modhub to avoid the use of a windrower. Let me know if you want more info about any of that.

If you're going vanilla for corn silage you'll want a trailer that would take a pin to attach opposed to a ball style tongue. It seems like HKD 302 is the biggest with a pin attachment. If you use the Krone with long pipe a helper can fill 2 of these when linked together. I think thats 42k cap & should mention they can be a bit tricky to link 2 together. Without the long pipe you can only fill one, in which case be prepared for a lot of transporting even on a smaller field.

If you are using mods there is a Fliegl dolly that has a pin attachment in modhub that would allow you to use semi trailers. Couple that with the 70k cap BSM trailer & you'll save yourself considerable time & effort running loads.

I took some screen shots that might help explain better if any of this doesn't make sense, not sure how to post them here. If you want, I can post them in steam screenshots.

And you were right, something else I hadn't considered is that trailer or not, there'd be plenty of runs to the Biogas plant. Couple that with an oddly shaped, lopsided plot and the time it took trying to keep the trailer in-line with the combine...yeah any alternative to spending all afternoon is worth looking into!

Thanks for the other info here, yeah I was planning on trying out different combines next harvest, I'll give that long piped one a shot....right after buying a square plot because goddang, did I mention it was rough without one??
Lol thanks Bp, I'll look for that Fleigl dolly too.

Yeah just a little info on that...because I went and got that impressive machine and I'm not seeing it create swaths here, BP! We're swathless over here lol
The Pottinger Novacat A10, right?
bplus410 Jun 9, 2020 @ 6:03am
Yeah Novacat A10, haven't used it in awhile. If I recall you have to "toggle work mode" to get it to make swaths. I'll check into it later today or tomorrow. In the meantime there's another Novacat in modhub that has a little less width that can create swaths. Worse case if you're looking to have a grass farm running before I'm able to look into the mod(s) you can go back to the vanilla old fashion way. If you're working fields manually you can use a beefy medium (I advise 230 hp+ & wheel weights) or large tractor, then link both of the vanilla Novacats on the front of the tractor & pull a windrower behind, then follow up with a loading wagon...done in 2 passes. Worth noting if you are using AI for mowing & windrowing you'll want to use 2 separate tractor. The AI wasn't programmed to process a field running both mowers & windrower at the same time. Hope this helps until I can get back to ya.
bplus410 Jun 9, 2020 @ 7:13am
On the A10 you'll want to unfold & lower the mower, then you can toggle the work mode to "create swath" & prevent the need for a windrower.
Worth noting you'll want to use the small Novacat on the front of the tractor.

Here's the link to the latest Krone Cargo that I've been able to find...

https://fs19.net/farming-simulator-2019-mods/trailers/krone-cargo-overloading-trailer-v1-0/

I consider this a must for volume forage production. It has plenty of capacity to keep the harvester going while runner(s) take forage to a bunker.

The only annoyance I found was the front steering axle is steering the wrong way, making it tediously easy to jack-knife. As a quick fix, change the steering axle scale on the first two wheels from 0.3 to -0.3. It's still not ideal, but works much better.

Thanks a lot for this man, much appreciated...I THINK I already got this from a previous recommendation, but thanks for taking the time, I've just planted corn and am going to give it a shot shortly here.
