Savegame gone?

So I was just playing, the game crashed and when I restarted it it says the savegame is not in use, it's like it was just deleted

Had you just started the game and not saved yet? Should still exist however... And would have had to have been shortly after starting.

Did it crash while trying to save? (Autosave while going into the menu, have been some issues with that but I have never had a problem.) Imagine if it crashed half way through saving it may have corrupted the file.

Not a new game, maybe 100 hours into the save game. It did crash while doing an auto save. Any way to recover it?

Sorry, can't help with that as I have never experienced that, but might not be a bad idea to copy your savegame folders every X number of hours and create a backup outside of the FS19 directory, at least that way you wouldn't have to start from scratch. I'd be plenty mad too if I had to start over after putting 100+ hrs. in.

Might be some other posters on here who could provide guidance on how to get that game back but for some reason I have a feeling it won't be easy or possible, depending...

Seems if you try to do certain things while it is attempting to autosave it will glitch out and can crash or freeze, guess at this point try to think back if you were trying to do something when it did autosave and crash, game is still buggy at this point. Now would also be the time to troubleshoot if it is a recent mod or other addition to the game, as those causing conflicts could cost you a lot of play time.

if you go to where your mod folder is , you can check in savegamebackup what it saved last , it shows time

I had this happen and it turned out to be from some save files a mod was creating in the save game folder. Every time I copied the backup save game files it FS19 would delete them all at startup. I had to delete the complete folder, then recreate it with the backup save game files and then relaunch FS19.

This is what is happeneing now, So in my case it is "savegame 1" So I delete the "savegame 1" folder, create a new folder and name it "savegame 1" then past to contents from the backup folder to it?

Looks like this fixed it, I lost just an hour or 2 of work but that's better than the 145 hours I have into it lol. Thanks a million.

I have this same problem as well. Every time even, if I take files from a previous savedgame1 folder that has everything in there, When I go to load up the game kicks out what I have just put in and keeps a few files that I. Not all of them were kept. At this point I am heart broken. I have so much work on this my first map. I have a server and I don't know how to get the save from the server. I am like @jasonw . I have almost a 120 hrs into this project. Mainly so many hours because of making mistakes and learning from them. Now it doesn't take long. But it is heartbreaking to have all of that snatched from you. If anyone has any suggestions for me please let me know. I love this game and just bought it a month ago. I am trying not to get discouraged with it. Thanks for reading this.

blah. - i just had this happen- froze on save action; then at next game start; no more save games. I went to the c:users\docs\game folder -\savedGame1 etc. and the file there had been created "TODAY". -- oh man.. that farm was totally custom landscape and a years worth of building ... i didn't realize i had to backup my docs folder.

- i guess a quarterly backup of your pc is n't a bad idea

calc101 - check savegameBackup folder located right where the savegame1 is - there should be several backups of it inside.
