We basically had FS19 GPS for over a month now, but nobody noticed it? How?
So, there is a mod, that is really tough to find actually called Vehicle Control Addon, that does similar stuff like keyboard steer mod, you know shuttle mode, quick camera looks, like looking back and stuff, but ALSO when you press Ctrl+W, it keeps your steering locked to your heading, rather it snaps to whatever angle you set it up to...

So it does the same major thing as the earliest GPS mod version we just got minus visual guidelines.



How the hell did ppl not found about this earlier and how hasn't it exploded as GPS release did today? Seems to me it completly went under the radar.

What have I been doing with my life? This is so many mods people have been clamoring for, all in one...

KeyboardSteer is a shelved no longer supported or updated mod, that has errors if used on multiplayer servers, as it says right there on the GitHub page linked above.

The Mod the original thread creator is talking about is Enhanced Vehicle Add-on and it's GitHub page for all latest versions and updates is: https://github.com/ZhooL/TSX_EnhancedVehicle
Since I don't have any fancy toys for input controls other than a keyboard and mouse, I guess I was wondering what all the fuss was about for a GPS mod. Always thought it was super easy to keep a vehicle in a straight line with the keyboard. Only thing I see GPS mod being useful for is fertilizer and lime spreaders that don't have a visual on the spread pattern until you turn it on.

Almost sounds like the GPS mod in game is harder to use than a real life one, at least a basic guidance like I have... After setting in the equipment measurements such as distance behind drawbar, width, and any L/R offset, setting the actual A/B line is done on the first pass. Get lined up straight, start moving, hit "A", keep driving straight until "B" can be pressed, and there you have it, the line is set.
Its not enhanced vehicle mod. I have that one for a while and it cant autosteer for ya.

Harah we've all tried that mod and that's why we're here looking for something better because the Guidance Steering Mod is nothing at all like the GPS Mod we all know and love from the previous farming simulator game. Far too complicated to get working for a start having to program points, and have to press multiple keys on the keyboard to activate functions. Also the fact you have to buy it for every vehicles makes it hugely expensive.

As for the original topic Vehicle Control Add-on and Enhanced Vehicle Add-on do some nice things but they are no way in any form a GPS Mod. Yes they basically let you activate a shuttle mode/steering lock mode so you can drive a perfectly straight line forwards or backwards. However Autosteer they do not, when you get to the end of a row on a field, it does not turn the vehicle and start going down the next row. It will only allow the vehicle to carry on in the direction it was going. So you still have to keep turning off the cruise control, re-positioning the vehicle and starting it all off again.

The new gps mod is realistic. Personally I like it far more than anything including the gps mod for 17.

Yeah, I'm a little annoyed with some of the other 'features' of the mod. Looks like I'll be editing some code tonight...

To save editing the file. there is a global config file that can be extracted from the mod and edited.

Mod author's give their own leisure time to make a mod, personally I wouldn't so quick to judge.
I liked the UI that you could use with the mouse on GPS for fs17. But fs19 is new, I am sure someone will make something new and better.
Yeah it's that UI Element that's missing that makes me not want to persevere with the Guidance Mod at this time. Although I play primarily on PC, I don't do so with a keyboard in front of me, meaning mod makers who release mods with tons of extra keyboard keybinds are a nightmare as I can't program them onto my Wheel, Nostromo and Controller setup. The GPS Mod for Fs17 was much simpler to operate and configure as it was just clicking buttons on the side of the screen.

They could make the GPS a optional upgrade that you could do to tractors. So you had to buy the equipment and could only use GPS on the tracktors that had it installed? perhaps via the customize menu. Would not this be more realistic?

the proper gps mod has this.

Sorry, that wasn't my meaning at all. I just meant there are some design choices that just don't work for me (i.e. automatically disabling auto stop & go on a vehicle by vehicle basis). I probably could have communicated that better. I have nothing but appreciation for these people putting in the time and effort to enhance the game experience, all without charging a dime.
