What factors are taken into account when I determine if a site is "safe" and "legit"?

Uploads/links are only from the original creator of the content. No reuploads whatsoever. Just plain original. These are the sites that the authors themself use to communicate with the community.

Hi, I’m the owner of Yesmods. First, Hodd Toward, thank you for making that list. It’s pretty accurate, although I question Modhoster. Too many complaints from modders about stolen mods being uploaded there by others recently…

Yes, you are actually correct. My site really doesn't belong on that list. I don’t host mods. I don’t make public mods. I’m only pointing people in the direction of good mods (Lord knows there are many bad ones out there…)

But I have to say this:

I don’t steal other peoples mods just to upload them to an affiliated file hosting company that pays me a couple of bucks for every 1000 downloads. Yes, I earn some money from my site. But it’s not even close to cover my web hosting costs, lol

All links from my site go directly to the modder’s own Facebook page, website, YouTube channel or whatever. So far I’ve sent modders more than 150,000 visitors in just under a month.

No, I’m not trying to make a point for a reinclusion. As I said, my site doesn’t belong on that list. But I’m kind of offended that some of you are comparing my site to all of those parasite sites with the words 15, 17 or 19 (and mods) in their domain names…

Not that I'm aware of. Just read a message from one German modder earlier this week accusing Modhoster of accepting stolen mods on their site. I've also seen similar accusations in the past. I know that MH staff used to remove such mods upon notice. I honestly don't know if they still are doing it.

While I, and probably many others appreciate the list of sites that are safe and legit, sometimes as mentioned there is a registration requirement. Also, some modders use sites that only allow 1 download every 180 minutes (as a free user). Among some of these sites, a site I like to browse which credits the authors, doesn't have download limitations, and does not open any sketchy webpage is LS17Mods.com.

It's not legit as they're not original download links. But if I can avoid download limitations, and avoid registering to sites that are not in my native language, I find that to be the better option IMHO.

Sounds all right to me. Also consider the fact that most websites also make money off of these unlegit uploads. Use adblock when using them

Nexus Mods just added FS19 to their list. Can you please add them to the modding site list?

I'm a big fan of Nexus already. Spread the word, far and wide. I don't want to have to wade thorugh another FB post and comments section again. I hope the shady mod-sites are in panic mode as well. They can steal from Nexus all they want, but if people are signed up and using Nexus already, will never be a need for anything other than the modhub and Nexus. Two places. Done and done. No more looking for the latest updated mod versions scattered all over. All in one convenient place. All my mods I've downloaded kept track of, easy access to leave feedback and comments on each mod. Just a great setup from what I see. Good stuff...

Which one of these mod sites isn't full of BS spyware and trojans that attack your computer without even clicking on anything on the page. Browser hijacks, iso's in the download setting off the above mentioned detection programs. Where can clean downloads of Stevies stuff be had at?

Pretty certain that site specifically was one of the non legit ones.

Thats one of the worst. Stevies stuff can be found on his FB. Anything credited to his bame outside his own FB is most likely fake/malware/bad conversions.

None of the sites linked in the list spread malware or show popups or anything like that
