What factors are taken into account when I determine if a site is "safe" and "legit"?

Uploads/links are only from the original creator of the content. No reuploads whatsoever. Just plain original. These are the sites that the authors themself use to communicate with the community.

Help mod makers by only downloading from original links! If you don't, they stop making mods and we don't want that, right?

https://www.pc-sg.uk/files/ requires registration to download stuff, others listed might as well. should probably make a note of those.

Have checked now and none other than PC-SG and LS Farming-Mods seem to require registration. Thanks for the headsup

i use it all the time, i know theres stolen content but its better than alot of other sites

and half the time i know if its stolen or not, and normally dont use stolen stuff (Sandy Bay 19 and Chellington 19)

Yeah but that is not the purpose of this list. Can't you read at all? The list is for legit and safe sites only

ok thats true...also one of the reasons i use fsmods17 is cause it actually has listed mods and updates daily

Yeah its easy when people just rip off the mod makers and upload it for own profit hmm...

It's an ad revenue only site that doesn't host or make any mods at all.

No but they curate mods and provide lots of useful resources for new players. I dont see what your problem is. Almost all websites have ads. Use adblock if its such an issue. I dont care

Speaking of Sandy Bay 19, a quick search only gave me non legit links. I'm on phone rn so cant really check but I'd assume the original version is uploaded somewhere on one of those listed sites?

Your list is definitely required reading for us newbs. I agree with your philosophy wholeheartedly and support making it a "sticky" somewhere obvious.

I know just enough about hunting for mods and scripts to get myself into trouble--and believe me, I've had my woes with illegitimate mod sights. I know I have a bad actor mod from a questionable site in my current FS17 install that makes it crash whenever I open it. I'll have to week it out, but am too busy with FS19 to care too much about it right now.
