hook several trailers
I have noticed that sometimes the game lets you hook several trailers one behind the other, and sometimes not. What is the game based on to decide this?

real life

Real life tells me that if a tractor can hook a 60000l trailer, it should be able to hook two 21000l trailers. go bother somewhere else please.

95% of the trailers in game are license form the owner
witch if in real life you can hook 2 in game you can hook 2

OP, it depends on the hitch set-up. Most trailers don't have an appropriate hitch to simply connect another of the same kind (ball hitch) to the back of it. Those that do have a hitch at the back it is usually for a pin hitch, so you need a trailer with that kind of hitch. Those are the ones that have the a-frame type tongue on them, typically with the front axle that turns.

Finally, a really useful comment. thanks.
where are the adapters?

There aren't adapters, they're separate trailers and you need to make sure when you buy them that they do have the hitch attached to the back. Some it's built-in, some it's an option.

Maybe the best way to explain is to show:
These are mods on the in-game mod hub and they illustrate what you're looking for in trailers. There are many others and you can mix & match the manufacturers, so these are just examples of what you can find in game.

This one is just the trailers with the a-frame tongue and front steering axle. You can see in the pics how they attach together.

What you could also do, if you don't want the front trailer to have the steering axle is use a trailer with a ball hitch, like this one for the front trailer. https://www.farming-simulator.com/mod.php?lang=en&country=us&mod_id=128591&title=fs2019

The drawback to the trailers with a front steering axle is that they are much harder to back up and have them go where you want, but you need the front steering axle for the extra trailers in a train.

I am a real life Heavy machiner operator. ( farmer who is an expert in machines and plants )
Reason why not all trailers can pull example two trailers after each other is basicly due to how it was designed by the manufactor since not all people have such a demand or need.
You can however specificly ask for such extention to be installed on your new trailer in some cases but it will cost extra and might not be avaliable anyway.
YOU CAN drive with 3-4-5 trailers BUT only on private property and not on public road.

The main reason why few trailers do not allow you to connect two trailers after the tractors is due to international law that say there is a max length and total weight that you are not allowed to extend.

Now a days the tractors and one trailer is pretty long, so there is not that much free length that you can even attach an extra trailer legaly behind trailer 1 so there is no point of having a trailer hook on the back of most big modern trailers except if you want to use a chain to pull something or move example the combines "header" from a-b in the field or something.

its just like with Lorry/trucks with trailers they also have a max length, except if they have special permition to attach more trailers or transport very wide load.
Also remember a tractor is not a truck and drive both offroad and on solid road = braking distance and terrain is different and not all tractors have airbrakes with the build in security that add ( if no air, brakes cannot release ) its typical only the larger tractors who have airbrakes now a days, while example 0-200hk have hydraulic brakes.
The big difference air brackes vs hydraulic is if you blow a hose the fluid run out and you cannot break the trailers.. while if you break a hose and air run out, it automatic brake and you wont be able to move the trailers until you repair and refill air.. Air brakes are better and more safe, that is why they are on trucks/trailers so the trailer always can break no matter what to avoid accidents.. its a really smat system....

Also there is a big difference when you drive with two trailers vs only one trailer.. First of all its more easy to drive with one trailer = more people can drive with a sigle trailer than with two.
And second one trailer is more easy to drive backwards with while two trailers is difficult and almost impossible for many people. You can try in farmer simulator and drive backwards with two trailers and see how far you go before you have to stop and then try the same with one trailer.

In general two trailers after each other is for smaller wagons, example in farmer sim the 20.000L wagons x 2 that is actual a pretty good trailers, except for they are illegal to use in real life now a days since they have no build in brakes in the trailers ;-) but for farmer simulator this dosent matter.

PS.in the past i worked a bit in australia and had a CAT 95 belt tractor and 110t + 80t trailer after each other, tractor could move it... However these huge wagons are NOT in farmer simualtor, and also you dont use them to drive from a-z... they are used as mobile grain tanks where road trains come to and get a full load before they drive home... once the tanks are empty you can move them to a new field. ;-)

I worked here in 2003 but video is from 2007 but its the same machines.. you see the big wagons in the video. ( i was a combine harvester pilot, lexion 480 and john deere cts 2 )
By the way in Australia where i was a few month they only harvest like 1,8 - 2 tons pr hectar.. In Europe we harvest more than 10 tons pr hectar due to different climate and soil.

PPS.. funny story.
I was harvesting in my 480 lexion combiner, and sudenly one of the other guys started to drive in an 8 shaped patern.. I called on the radio and asked what are you doing, and he rely there is a 6m snake, im trying to kill it.. ;-)
Other time a cangaroo run along side of my combiner, but later they drive out and shoot them since they are not though of as being good animals but are responsible for many death and injurys when people run into them with their cars.

ppps.. It might be big fancy machines but in reality i do not recommend a life as a farmer. The job is pretty good, BUT the salery is bad and many farmers are actual poor and farms have bad economy... I like to suggest you becomming an electrician instead its a job you can have all life and it pay pretty good. ( or other jobs you can have all life ).

Thank you very much for the mods page.

That deserves a special comment. Thanks for the information, it was very interesting about the air brakes.
I thought it was impossible to drive 2 trailers in reverse. Although I would say that to test this, the Euro Truck Simulator or American Truck would be better, here the controls and cameras are basic enough to achieve that feat.

damn kangaroos XD
