What are the ground types in the landscaping tool?
Okay, I've been searching for hours and can't find an answer, time to ask you guys.

What on earth are the different ground types in the paint landscaping tool? I know the obvious ones, but there are a bunch I can't identify and of course there is no in game name display.

Various types of dirt, crushed rock/pavement, and grass. No I do not know what they are labeled as either. Can be tricky to match up the same one to an area if you are "painting" pavement or what not around a building and tying into an existing road that isn't blacktop.

The actual names are hidden away in game files somewhere, perhaps others know what they are called.

small tip for u: make a new game and try all kinds of ground types by yourself. there are many concrete/asphalt types some are broken others are clean types of it. so u can make halfbroken roads as an example, for more realism. even gravel is possible. That said i recommend you to try all types in a new savegame to be sure u don´t destroy your game.

Great idea, still doesn't tell me the names of each though.

yeah but after my tip "YOU" know exactly which type "YOU" want to paint.
is there a mod or something I can change to get the names of the ground types while in landscape painting mode?

You can change it in the xml files of the map
How?

BS. I still have to memorize (after trial-and-error finding the right ground type) which number it is, like "okay, reload my game and the go to landscaping, go painting, and then hit tab N times"

yeah, I have no idea why there is no label for the textures. such a theoretically easy fix, too.

Stay here and whinge then, see how far that gets you
Actually, because of this thing I can think of a solution.
A mod that replaces the texture icon with a labelled one.
As in, a small text in a corner, written directly onto the image file used as the icon.

ground 01, 02
concrete
grass
sand
beach
gravel

etc
I saw a mod like that in Modhub yesterday
